I’m looking to buy a 2019 Ram 1500 crew cab long bed (6.4 inches) SLT

my first question is why do all of these long bed crew cabs seem to be cheaper than standard size crew cabs, am I missing something?

secondly, this specific type looks pretty basic, what’s a good website to find things like fender flares and other accessories for this specific truck?

thank you all!

Because you state that the vehicle is an SLT, I'm suspicious you are looking at a 4th generation Ram, or what is now known as a Ram Classic.

Can you supply us with a VIN number?

Best regards,
Dusty

Yes it does say classic on it but it’s 2019, can you inform me what classic means and just anything else I should know? I’m new to rams

Classic is basically a new truck but older model. it is the 4th gen body. if you go to the ram website you'll be able to see the difference between the 1500's and the 1500 Classics pretty easily. go poke around on the vehicle configurator. it is fairly accurate.

"Classic" means it is the 4th generation Ram 1500, body code DS, as apart from the 5th generation (current generation, 2019 and up) which are body code DT. The 4th gen Classics were so popular they continued production after the 5th gen release. Other than engine and drivetrain there are few mechanical similarities.

Fortunately there are a wide range of accessory items available for the Classic.

Dusty

Experts is a relative term, but go ahead. Opinions are worth what you pay for them and make for good reading and comparison.

Have a link to the truck you are interested in?

That is a Classic (4th Gen that came out in 2009), not the 2019 redesign.

Just from the pictures, it seems a little beat up to me. Price is OK, not great even in this price inflated market.

If me, I would keep looking.

Dusty is correct, the classic (or DS) 4th gen style lives on as the Ram Classic. The Ram (minus the classic) is the DT, or 5th gen, newest body style.

The 4th gen Classic can be had in base trim up to Warlock (Rebel-ish version). The 5th gen can be had from base trim up to the super luxury Longhorn or Limited, or the ridiculous (in a good way) TRX, or anything in-between.

Although they may appear the same, even in the drivetrain there are quite a few differences. For example, the 4th gen Classics (with the Hemi) use the now slightly older 8HP70 transmission, which is a good unit, but not quite as good as the newer 8HP75 in the 5th gens. The EcoD is the same way, and the V6 uses a newer version than its 4th gen counterpart as well.

Although the Hemi is basically the same, there are also a few smaller engine differences; e.g. the 4th gens use a mechanic clutch style engine cooling fan, where as the 5th gens have gone full electric.

Damn I forgot how basic those are. That SLT is pretty much the same as the 2015 Tradesman I had a few years ago. The mileage is high for a 2019. The price seems high too, but I haven't shopped for a used truck for over 5 years. And I know that truck prices are unusually high right now. If it were me I'd keep looking for something with lower miles, even if you have to pay a little more.
