First post. Enjoying the forum over the last few weeks. This will be my first truck purchase after owning close to 30 cars in 26 years of driving. Have been learning a lot and if I finally decide to buy a new truck, it will be a Ram. If I go back to considering used, it would be a Ram or Chevy depending on deal and packages included. Anyway....

I have found a 2019 Sport with less than 100 miles on the odo. So it's a Canadian truck which means the factory warranty would be voided. Canadian packages do not go 1 for 1 for US packages but it basically has Big Horn Level 2, leather seats with a fabric inset (do not think offered in US), premium alpine, regular v8, spray in bed liner, LED lighting, Granite Crystal color, bucket seats/console, standard box, 20" wheels, trailer package. I think those are the big ticket items. Sport version has all body colored fenders and such, blacked out logos, black exhaust pipes.

Anyway, dealer says they are like CarMax that their advertised price is their best price. Asking just under 38k. I don't think it's worth it at 38k. I can get a 3rd party warranty to cover me, but certainly not like the factory warranty.

Looking for opinions on would you go for this, and if not, is there a price you might?

I have gone to 3 different dealers here in Canada over the past few months and ALL of them have gone well below advertised price. It's been easy to get around 25% off the window sticker (MSRP) price on the 2019's. Whereabouts is the Canadian dealer?

Sorry for any confusion, it's actually a US independent dealer. Supposedly it's a repo truck that they bought at auction.

So is this a U.S. Carmax dealer that has a Canadian model truck on its lot? What would the rough MSRP of this truck be in US Dollars new? Then take 25% off that. If it's anywhere close or lower, then buy new with the warranty. Carmax will not haggle. Over time, if it sits on their lots, they will sloooowwwwlllly reduce the price, but that's it. And with all the little issues this truck has had with the first year production, you want that warranty, trust me.

Why would you even consider buying a brand new truck with no warranty?

To me, it's a no-brainer. It's not even a good deal. PASS.

It's not a CarMax dealer, just someone who operates like CarMax; no haggle, etc. The price listed is the price. I'd consider it as it's a sweet truck in a configuration that isn't widely available at this point for 2019 MY. But I agree, I have seen the issues just going through this site and it needs a warranty. That is a solvable problem. But yes, at that price, I agree it's not.

Frankly, US $38k is where you might be on a new Big Horn from a CDJR dealer depending on options and discounts. I was just looking at a '19 Big Horn with a factory retail price of US $43k plus some change. Your gut feeling is you need a factory warranty, and I would go with it.
