Hi All, I am getting ready to buy a 2021 Limited. I've configured the truck on the RAM website. I really like the look of the chunkier tires that come on the Rebel and they seem to come with the Off-Road Group. The website allows me to build it with both the Night edition and the Off Road Group. The Night Edition comes with 22" wheels and lower profile touring tires that I think look a bit weak on the truck and I can imagine that doing any off-roading wouldn't be wise with those tires. When you add the Off Road Group it changes the wheels to 20" with the chunkier looking off road tires. (It doesn't give you a credit for changing the wheels from 22" to 20" though)

So I have a couple of questions.

1. I see some conflicting information online about the Off Road Group and if it adds a 1" lift to the truck as well. It doesn't mention the lift on the website, but I've seen other people saying that it does. Does anyone know? I really like the look of the rebel because of the tires, and also it sits higher and looks more aggressive, but I want the luxury of the Limited. So do you think with the ORG it will lift the Limited up to the same height as the Rebel?

2. Do you think with the ORG tires and the 20" vs 22" wheels I will notice a deterioration in ride quality on the road?

3. Is it possible to just change the 22" tires that come with the Night Edition to the chunkier off road type tires and lift the truck a little to match the Rebel stance while keeping the 22" wheels?

Here is the truck I built with both the Night Edition and ORG, but I've looked at pretty much every photo I can find of new Night Edition Limited trucks online and I have not seen one with the ORG and the 20" off road tires, so I'm wondering if the website is incorrect?

I'm attaching a photo that I took at my local dealer of the Rebel and the Limited side by side, and the Rebel definitely is higher and looks better, but again that Limited doesn't have the ORG.

Thanks for any help or advice. Looking forward to my new truck!IMG_7778.jpg

Congrats (in advance)! Are you ready for the huge volume of knowledge you'll find on this site that will make your head explode, and your wallet cry when you start purchasing accessories/upgrades you discovered here? 🤣

EDIT: Also please take a look at this thread. It has the same info I typed up for you here, plus maybe a bit more.

Yes and no. While the ORG does add the all terrain (chunkier) tires, also downsizing the rims to 20" (rather than 22"), the rims/tires are actually overall the same size as the 22" rims/tires. This means they are smaller overall than the Rebel rims/tires.

Limited wheels = 285/45R22 = 32.1"
Limited w/ ORG wheels = 275/55R20 = 31.9"
Rebel wheels = 275/70R18 = 33.2"

In reality, every tire maker may vary slightly from those measurements, so in essence, the Limited and Limited ORG tires/wheels are basically the same. As they say in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, they are more like guidelines. ☠️

So if you wanted to have the same wheel size (and height) as the Rebel, you'd have to put different (slightly larger) tires onto the 20" rims, rather than sticking with the factory ones.

2. Do you think with the ORG tires and the 20" vs 22" wheels I will notice a deterioration in ride quality on the road?
This is very dependent on a person's taste. Some cannot tell the difference between the 22", the 20", and the 18". Others report way better ride with the 20" or 18".
In theory, the 18" or 20" with more rubber will give you a better ride, but not handle quite as sharply/nicely compared with the 22".

3. Is it possible to just change the 22" tires that come with the Night Edition to the chunkier off road type tires and lift the truck a little to match the Rebel stance while keeping the 22" wheels?
Yes, it is possible. There are small lift kits available, I believe, for trucks with the air suspension (like the Limited has).

I'm attaching a photo that I took at my local dealer of the Rebel and the Limited side by side, and the Rebel definitely is higher and looks better, but again that Limited doesn't have the ORG.
The Limited will have the variable air suspension, so if you wanted to, you could buy Rebel rims/tires (or equivalent), put it in Off Road 1 mode, and you'd be at roughly the same height as the Rebel. Go to Off Road 2 mode and you'd be a little taller than a Rebel. The only downside is that once you go above 25 MPH (Off Road 2) or 40-ish MPH (Off Road mode 1) for a little bit in the Limited, it will auto-lower you.

Of course, if someone has a Rebel with the air suspension, they can go into Off Road 1 mode (no Off Road 2 in a Rebel), and then they'd be at the same height as a Limited's Off Road 2 (equipped with Rebel-sized rims/tires).

Thanks for all your help, really appreciate it! I do see that when I configure the truck on the website with the Night Edition it shows the 22" wheels, but then when I add the ORG the specs on the Night Edition change to 20".

Still not sure if the ORG adds the 1" lift or not.

And FWIW I haven't seen any truck on any dealer's website that is configured with the Night Edition and the ORG, so possibly it's a new option.

I've had 4 dealers (and the Ram Rep here on the forum) tell me that the official RAM website is in-error, regarding the Limited Trim with both the Night Edition and Off-Road Group selected. They say that their dealer ordering system won't allow them to order it and acknowledge that the Official RAM Website does let you do it. None of them currently know why. Speculations deal with the Air Suspension compatibility or a supply shortage of those black 20" aluminum wheels you'd get with the Off-Road group, but no one knows why for sure. The Ram rep on this forum said she escalated to the engineering department for answers, but I doubt they'll supply a reason. Probably it's something simple or embarrassing and not desirable to release, since the website is still allowing people to build it.

Also, I've searched in like 20 different zip codes in the online Find-Your-RAM tool and have never found an existing Limited with both the Night Edition & Off-Road Group, nor have I ever found a Laramie trim with Night Edition, Off-Road Group, and Air Suspension. The Limited has Air Suspension by default, which is leading some to assume a connection to the Air Suspension incompatibility or some random related issue. Since there aren't any in existence (yet), RAM needs to either stop advertising it via their website or provide an update that this config may be available in the future.

My vote is that they ran into a production issue with those unique Black 20" wheels part-way through production. Time will tell, or maybe not.

I have a 2020 Limited with the Black Package. Came with the standard 285/45R22XL wheels and tires. I purchased a set of the same tires as the Rebel, LT275/70R18. I love the look, but the road noise has increased dramatically to the point where I’m tempted to switch back. I had the dealer rebalance the new tires and mount, but I don’t have much faith in them. They did not recalibrate anything. Does the noise make sense to anyone? It also feels like it is stuck in a lower gear. Thanks!

Won't help with the noise, but regarding lower gear, one thing that may help: you should probably have the dealership recalibrate your speedo to Rebel rims/tires, as the Rebel tires are one size up compared to the factory 22s.

If they claim they cannot, or that it cannot be done, it simply means they do not know how (and if they don't know how, obviously its not possible 🤣 ). They have the equipment to do it, but whether they know how to use it (and are willing to do it) is another question. They may not be able to calibrate for any tire size, but they can definitely calibrate for factory sizes, like the Rebel size. If they say no, try calling other dealerships, making sure to specify its factory Rebel size (and not some non-factory size). Or you can buy a gadget to do it yourself.

Up to you, but I'd switch out the factory A/Ts for a different tire. My Wildpeaks, while the same size as the 22s (not your upsized Rebel tires), have hardly any additional road noise.

I ordered a Laramie with Night Edition, ORG, and Air Suspension. See Signature for full build.
I even got the Black Power Folding Tow Mirrors with 360º Camera.
