Lemon Law Questions

Hello everyone,

I currently own a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 with about 85,000 miles.

My truck is currently in the shop with 4 failed injectors and an exhaust leak. What brought it into the shop is a random flashing check engine light and rough shaking at idle.

My question is, as of now the truck is covered under extended warranty. However, this is the 3rd time I have brought my truck into the shop within the past 2ish years for the same issues, bad injectors causing the rough idle and check engine light and engine failure.

Is there any chance of getting the vehicle lemon lawed because I fear as soon as the warranty runs out, this issue is going to happen again and I will have to pay for it.

Any tips or recommendations on how to handle this if anyone has had any prior experience, that would be great.

85,000 miles…. This isn’t a lemon law issue.

Injectors are fairly easy to replace, cost around 60 bucks ea. Manifolds, depending on what side, take more effort.
Done both, I keep a spare injector in the toolbox.

You are well outside any lemon law coverage no matter what state you live in, unfortunately. I'd be more concerned in why injectors keep failing on you.

bad injectors causing the rough idle
That same thing can be caused by marginal fuel quality, just a thought.
Happened to me, multiple cylinder misfires, rough idle on cold start`s, fine on consecutive starts when the engine was warm, bad fuel.
I also had one injector fail around 80K miles, caused a single cylinder misfire DTC.

Are you using the same shop both times? I think you need to try a different tech or service center even if that means going further away. Lemon Law typically applies to newer/slightly used vehicles. 85k miles and 6 years old probably won’t fit into that category.

I guess this was my main concern as to why the injectors keep failing me. Having been the 3rd time this seems like something else is causing it rather than mileage.

Finding how the fuel injectors failed could point to the root cause. If you could get the failed injectors over to a shop that does injector testing, it would be a good start.
