LED Reverse light

I am looking for ideas and pictures from anyone who has done this mod and has no issues. The biggest hurdle so far to date is my Truck has the factory LED lights and i tow trailers so i have the Factory brake controller. I am hearing from others that if you hook anything other than a trailer to the factory towing harness the truck will say there is a trailer hooked up.

Who has done what and do you have pics to share.

For reference i have spoken with Diode Dynamics and they have already confirmed they are not 100% certain their kits will work and so have issues and some do not. I believe those that do not have issues do not have a brake controller.

Yeah, the factory lights are not very inspiring.
I spliced into the 7 pin harness for LED backup lights, no issues.

You're trying to add more reverse lights? Buy a curt harness so you don't chop your factory harness up and splice into the reverse light on that Amazon.com.

Then add whatever lights you want. I have some cheap ones off Amazon that I wired quick connects to, so when they die I just swap them out with fresh ones.

Don’t hack into the stock wiring. It’s unnecessary and just adds a potential issue down the road.

I was not aware of such a thing when I wired up my lights, that`s why

It is fine if done correctly.

Yeah it's perfectly fine if done correctly. Using the Curt harness was just really simple, and allowed me to wire everything up in the garage instead of under the truck.

Yes, most likely.
Unless it felt and looked cheesy after a touch and feel.

Only if you tap into the brake wire.

FWIW, @VICE design makes a harness with Deutsch style 2-pin connect specifically for adding reverse lights. It does not effect the trailer towing. I have one, and also used the splitter to connect two light pods. Originally I was using the diode dynamics brackets with some Amazon special LED pods(cheaper than the full didod dynamics kit), but when I switched to my aftermarket bumper, it had spots for the flush mount cubes. Sold the old lights and brackets to a local guy.
