I just purchased a 2022 Laramie GT this past weekend. I had a 2018 Ram Sport with the 5.7 hemi, my 2022 has the 5.7 etorque (standard). My question is about the gear limit setting, on my 2018 I could hit the gear limit buttons (+ - )on the steering wheel to select the maximum gear the transmission will shift into, this feature is useful for towing but I also understand that it disables MDS. The GT has the floor shifter and paddle shifters on the steering wheel but there are no buttons to select the gear limit. Does anyone know if the GTs have the gear limit feature or a way to disable MDS? My new truck has the tow group package, it makes sense that it would have Electronic Range Select too.

I have no skin in this game, but I was wondering the same thing. I like to disable MDS most of the time, and wondered if that can be done on one of the GT versions with the console shifter.

Well click the + paddle to 7th gear and see if it shifts into 8th or if eco mode comes on

The paddle shifter will only let you click up to 2nd gear when stopped or 3rd gear if the truck is in 4Lo. There may not be a way to defeat MDS on the GT, I can live with it but ideally I would like to turn it off.

Doesn't the shift lever have a +/-? It looks like it in pics I've seen of the shifter. Or does that work the same as the shift paddles?

Ahh so it acts like a true “manual” shifter.

Putting it in tow/haul should turn it off though

I think that may be the case, I've been experimenting with the tow haul button and it seems to do the trick.

That's not surprising. It's been documented that tow/haul disables MDS, at least on 5th gens. But then you'll have to drive around in tow/haul mode all the time if you want to keep MDS disabled.

There are some cool things about the GT package, but the more I learn about it the happier I am I didn't order a Rebel GT a year ago.

I just slide my shifter over to manual, either after I reach the desired gear/speed that I want, or when I feel like shifting, and it disables MDS. I'll be installing my Pulsar soon, looking forward to the ability to permanently switch off MDS

I could live with that. Thanks for the info!

I'm going to be buying a Pulsar, I didn't know about this until you mentioned it, thanks!
