I have always been curious about finding a way to slim down the RAM key fob since it make a decent bulge in my pocket. Awhile back, I damaged my spare key fob so today I decided to tear it down and see if the board would work by itself.. I took it apart and taped the battery in place it it worked flawlessly. Now I just need someone to 3d print a new slim case for it and I will have a wireless key fob that is about half of the original thickness. Anyone on here have a 3d printer that would want to help with this idea?

Good luck! I am planning on getting an HD 3d printer at some point next year, but you’ll probably find what you need before then.

I keep my fob on one of these and hang it from my belt loop to keep crap out of my pockets. Works like a charm and they are cheap 20211121_192636.jpg

I find the Nite Ize S-biners more functional and smoother to operate than those.

They come in several sizes and colors.

They also make a 'G" series.

I have no affiliation with them, just like the product.

I tried using one of those before and believe it or not I actually lost a set of keys lol. Fortunately I found them but for whatever reason (I dont know how it happened) it came loose from my belt loop. I'm thinking maybe it got caught on my jacket or something but i cant say for sure. I have access to a bunch of the carabiners so I'm able to snag them when I need them and I havent had a problem with lost keys since lol.

Back to the reason for this thread - I'm in if someone creates a new smaller case. I hate the present trend in making key fobs larger and larger.

Its "trendy" lol. Look at cellphones. When they first came out they were huge. Technology got better and they became just about microscopic now the are getting larger every year. Pretty soon we wont even need keys or fobs

Thanks everyone for all the “bulge” jokes… I figured I was stepping into that one 😂. I actually have a 3d printer coming tomorrow and plan to print up a slim case and test this out. I found a silicone fob cover that matches my FOB that I will use on the front so I have working buttons and labels. Stay tuned for results in the next week or so.
