I recently upgraded from a 2019 Limited to a 2025 1500 Limited and encountered a strange issue with my key fobs. The problem was that neither of my key fobs would respond when pressing any of the buttons, despite still having passive entry and no issues with starting the truck.

I attempted to troubleshoot the issue by:

  • Replacing the batteries in both fobs (no change)
  • Disconnecting the positive and negative terminals for over 20 minutes (hoping to reset the ECU, but no change)
With no resolution, I scheduled a service appointment. However, when I arrived at the dealership, the issue mysteriously resolved itself. The service representative checked for any error codes but found none. I did sit inside my truck with it off for about 15 minutes prior to my appointment, not sure if that had anything to do with resetting the FOBs.

In retrospect, the issue may have started earlier, as I noticed that when using passive entry to unlock the truck, the horn would beep once, pause, and then beep three more times before starting the engine.

Everything is working fine now, but I'm still puzzled by the issue and wondered if anyone else has experienced something similar.

Just google "RAM, no key fob detected" and you can read for DAYS on people having the issue.

I had it happen on my 19', my 24', and now my 25'. Absolutely INSANE that RAM has not even tried to resolve this with the thousands and thousands of people reporting this happening....

Yeah, what I was seeing was a lot of people who would get a "No FOB Detected" warning on their dash. I never had that issue, I just couldn't use any of the buttons.

Probably just a computer glitch. Every so often, certain options, just don't load right. I've had times where the radio won.t work at all, or up and down station button won't work, navigation not load, and others. They are jus a one time deal, and next start, they work. There are so many things computer controlled, that sometimes when the computer boots up, trying to load everything, it skips an item. I always have to ***** at my girlfriend, to not touch any buttons for a couple seconds, because I think part of it, is because the second her but touches the seat, she starts pushing heated seat, and temperature controls. Pushing buttons, can interrupt the boot sequence, just like a home computer. If it keeps happening, then worry about it.

I also have the same issue since I bought in last October. So far 5 times. Taken to the dealer and they couldn't find any issues. Sometimes the remote start works after few minutes. Sometimes it works after several attempts. Really frustrating. Brand new 2025 Ram 1500 Bighorn 4x4. Some software glitch I guess.
