I’m waiting on the 2023 model year Ram 3500 Mega Cab dually as I’m reading it’ll be redesigned that year, namely the interior with a focus on the windshield, headliner, and better panoramic viewing (can’t think of a better term to use) while sitting behind the steering wheel.

I will be buying a Longhorn edition or a Limited edition as the appointments that come with those models are important to me. We’ll be hauling a 5th wheel across the country. Personally, I prefer an Class-A RV but my wife shot that idea down, so a Ram 3500 Mega Cab Dually wins.

Based off of what I've experienced on the Gen 4.5 RAM 3500, I would suggest getting the following on the Gen 5 if you are going to be hauling cross country:
  • High Output 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel
    • 400HP with 1,000 ft-lbs of torque
  • 6-speed HD AISIN AS69RC Transmission
  • Adaptive Steering System
    • Includes the ability to change the RAM's gear ratio while it is moving, giving you better control while traveling at lower speeds.
  • Dual Alternators rated at 440Amps
    • With both alternators running parallel, they share the electrical load creating less heat and less overall work. This provides additional power for vehicle upfits and accessories. If one alternator goes down, the other picks up that sides load, minimizing down time for repairs.
  • Max Tow Package
    • Center Stop Lamp with Cargo View Camera
      • Allows you to reverse and hookup your truck to a gooseneck or fifth wheel trailer without a guide as the camera looks directly at the bed.
    • Electronic Trailer Brake Controller
    • 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Towing Prep Group
    • Auto Level Rear Air Suspension
    • MOPAR 30,000 pound Direct Mount 5th Wheel Hitch
    • 4.10 Axle Ratio
    • 12.0 inch axle from AAM
    • 4.5 inch axle tubes
    • 365mm rear brakes
    • Dual Rear Wheels
    • DOT Certified Roadside Safety Kit
  • Trailer Camera Wiring
  • Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System
    • Includes TPMS sensors for the six tires on the RAM and an additional set for your trailer. The system accommodates up to 12 trailer tires and up to four trailer profiles. This helps monitor and prevent trailer tire flats/blow outs minimizing any potential down time for repairs.
