So I have a 21 ram 5.7 47k miles in and passenger manifold is starting to leak. Being that I have a catback system most likely won’t be able to go to the dealer for warranty so I’m looking to upgrade, I want to maintain the stock cats and increase reliability getting away from the stock manifolds,
so my question is, anyone use jba?
How do they hold up?
Did you install yourself and what is the cost of install at a dealer
What bolts and gasket did you use?

A catback system has no effect on the warranty for manifolds.

That being said, I would definitely go to ****ty headers should mine crack. This will prevent further issues with manifolds cracking and give better performance

Sounds good, did they strengthen the bolts on the new generation or would it be wise to get an extractor kit

I had JBAs on my 2012 and they had pinhole leaks.. they messed with the MDS a lot.. there was a whole thread on it on ramforum.com but some of the guys had no issue. If you do go with them I HIGHLY recommend the remflex gaskets. I would use stock bolts as they upgraded them after the Gen4s kept snapping. With the upgraded Gen5 bolts the bolts dont snap the manifolds do LOL. Below is a link to the youtube video that shows the pinhole welds (skip to 7minutes) and also for what its worth the manifolds should be part of the powertrain warranty regardless of your catback.

Decisions decisions, what did it mess with on your mds? Curious I thought it wouldn’t really affect it running unless your messing with the cats

I was working with Jay Greene on various tunes and eventually just turned MDS off on all of them. I had left it on for the long highway drives but cruising at 60-70 it would jerk on and off frequently with the JBAs. It was my daily driver and I didn't have time to take them back off and figure out the issue but did find the leaks in 2 of the welds when I took them off to trade it in. Your MPG will take a hit with an exhaust leak on these also if you have one... if you do buy them just do the leak test in the video before you go to install them and you should be fine. Best price I found for JBAs was Moe's Performance with the discount code of the ramforum.com membership.

There are discount codes for Moe's Performance? RIP

Being it’s my daily 104 miles a day on the turnpike maybe repair is better than jba

Wondering if the MDS issue, wasn't really an "issue", just something you never noticed with the stock manifolds since they were more restrictive

Possibly... but my highway MPG went from 19 - 13 and that was the only change at the time.

Do the JBA shorty headers bolt up to the rest of the factory exhaust or are there any modifications needed?
