First post here. I currently own a 2016 F150 work truck and my son has a 2018 Hemi. I like his truck a lot.

In November 2026 I'll be retiring from my FT job here in Syracuse and moving to Florida where I will continue my PT handyman business. My plan was to update the family vehicle fleet around that time. Right now I have a work truck and a sedan as a daily driver. I need to consolidate those two vehicles into one: I need a vehicle that will be comfortable on long trips, look nice around town but still hold enough tools and material that I can use it for my handyman business. I'm thinking a Crew cab 1500 with 5'7" bed and ram boxes. I would do a higher end tonneau cover to protect tools in the bed and I would outfit the back seats with Milwaukee Packouts (or similar).

The Ram boxes are a priority for me because I will be stepping down from an 8' box with a contractor's cap. I would like to do the SO Hurricane motor but i think the base V6 would serve my needs well enough. I am never going to tow, my area of Florida has no hills and lots of stop and go traffic. I owned a V6 Silverado a while ago and it was fine.

The Big Horn seems to have all the option I need, though more bells and whistles are always nice.

I wasn't looking to buy right now, but I just noticed that there are huge discounts advertised. If you go to Autotrader and search on Rams there are examples of $68k new trucks offered at $51k, Some of that discount is likely for boxes that I don't check. For example I am not a first responder or a veteran. But still.

My question is, are these deals common at this time of year? I don't really want to buy a new truck right now but I would also hate to miss these deals.

Any thoughts on that issue?

Thanks,
Dave

My NJ dealer where I bought my 2019 is offering me a great deal which expires Dec. 31st. Check out the 10 yr 100,000 mi warranty availability time line.

This is the guy to talk to, many have purchased on this forum from him and all seem happy.

Best wishes on your retirement and life in Florida. Where in Florida?
