I have an intermittent issue with my 2019 Laramie Longhorn with 117k miles. About 10 % of the time, the slide-out step does not engage instantly when I open my door from the outside. I have to wait up to 10 seconds before it extends. Also, when exiting, I turn off the engine and open the door, the dash is still lit, the radio is still on, and the step has not extended. I'll have to wait up to 10 seconds for everything to work properly. I took it to the dealer, and I could duplicate the issue. No error codes have been stored when scanned. Has anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions on how to correct the problem? Any guidance would be much appreciated...

I have the same problem with my 2019 Limited. It’s intermittent. I’m guessing it’s not the step itself but there’s an electrical connection issue that’s not registering the door being opened. Hence the electronics not turning off. I haven’t really corrected it is I’m dreading taking the door apart. It’s currently working so I’ve kind of forgotten about it. But next time it acts up I guess I’ll start digging.

Please let me know if you figure it out.

Same with my 19' Limited. Took in to the dealer - they replaced door sensors (was also having problems with the step motors which were replaced) and it still does the same thing. This could actually be dangerous. On more than one occasion, I went to exit the truck, waited and waited for the steps to deploy and finally went to slide down off the seat to plant my feet when the steps came out and just barely caught the backs of my ankles. Have also had them work the other way - Not come out when wanting to get in the truck, then when attempting to step up to pull myself into the truck they deploy and just about cause me to trip.
