Hi everyone, since now 6 months, I noted some weird behaviour from my 2020 EcoDiesel Limited at 190k km ... (118k miles). It used to religiouslty keep itself at 96ºC (204ºF) ... Now, it fluctuates between 88ºC (190ºF) and 96ºC ... not a big deal on its own ... But here is the topping lol.

  1. When I force a parked regen, the fan doesnt run at all. (it used to run full blast after 5 seconds in the process)
  2. When I ask some effort to the truck before turning it off (let say moving a boat and its trailer in the snow lol) ... Coolant reaches 105ºC (221ºF) and still no fan .... BUT as soon I turn it off, then the fan starts the after-cool fan behavior for a good 5 minutes ...
  3. When I grab AlfaOBD to manually start the fan, then it gives me an error like "Outside of normal values" or something that sounds like that ... and I cant manage to have it manually started.

I cleaned the TIPM there was nothing to signal there. Fuses are ok. Coolant level is ok too ...

The only code I have rn is U0285 which is "Lost Communication with Active Grille Air Shutter Module B" (lower part that deploy the 5 inch plastic lip to improve aerodynamics) - I did not spent time on this one yet - the fan behavior was happening before.

I have a 2020 Ram LWB Limited with now 190k km on it (118k miles)

any one got a clue?

Thanks!

I would say get the active grill issue sorted, it's definitely related to the cooling system and it will set a CEL at some point.

Can you check and see if the fan starts when you start the A/C? It should come on at low speed anytime the A/C system is running.

Any update on your issue? I seem to have the same problem. I’ve tried to just unplug the lower air dam with many others saying it will no longer throw a code when unplugged. Not in my case. Dealer said they need a diesel tech to make diagnose and repair.
