intake and fuel system maintenance

'22 2500 Hemi
- 50k mi
- S&B CAI / oiled
- Pulsar inline programmer - generally run Stock or Economy, with MDS off, unless towing, then tow with MDS off
- Premium Mobil / Chevron / Shell - perhaps false sense of security, but I'm convinced Sinclare nuked the fuel system in my '18 Jeep, so ...
- I have a dealer warranty on this Ram, so I opted (got suckered in) for injector service 10k miles ago, but have not inspected the throttle body or injectors myself.

Hard to describe, but something is starting to feel 'not smooth', it isn't consistent, and I can't describe it... I just have a spidey sense and am wondering what other items I may be able to clean/ perform maintenance on.

I change the oil every 5k .. doing it tomorrow.
Cleaned/oiled the filter 8k miles ago .. pulled today and it was dirty, not bad, but there was some oil residue on the rubber end, and when I rinsed the cleaner, there were lumpy bits of filter oil .. haven't ever seen that before with this or K&Ns on other trucks, so I'm wondering if I over oiled last time. My first thought was to clean the MAS, but if I have researched correctly, there isn't one, so let's say I did over oil... or just want to do some paranoid overkill. Is there something else I should/could clean/change/address?
I used to run Marvel's Mystery Oil in my older vehicles. Does anyone recommend something like that, seafoam, lucas or other fuel/oil additives to help with general longevity?

Nothing you can damage on Dodge speed density systems by "over oiling" an oiled air filter.

As for maintenance, the dealer service is just pulling the fuel line, connecting a BG fuel system cleaner can, and letting truck run until the can is empty. Nothing that even needs done if you are always running top tier fuel, which you said you do. Just a money grab for dealer.

You can remove the throttle body and see if the back side is dirty, and clean it. If it is dirty, after cleaning, I recommend getting a catch can to help keep it clean.

Leave the Marvel Mystery oil for the classics. Seafoam does work but only if your combustion Chambers are are dirty, and then, only if you use the method of sucking it into intake through vacuum port or using the aerosol can that sprays irk throttle body. Do NOT add it to fuel or oil

Just to clear the air on BG services, it changed a few years ago. They no longer pull the fuel line and run the truck on a cleaner. Now they dump a can of BG 44k cleaner in the tank, run the 22oz intake/valve/combustion cleaner through the throttle body.

"BG Platinum® Air Intake, Valve & Combustion Chamber Cleaner removes heavy fuel and oil deposits from the backs of valves and in air intake systems of gasoline direct injection (GDI) and port fuel injection (PFI) engines. Sprayed directly into the intake using the BG Platinum® Fuel Service Supply Tool, it restores fuel efficiency and engine performance and reduces harmful exhaust emissions." Provided by BG website.

Thanks for the sanity check and extra intel. I am not off-road as much in the Ram as the Jeep, but am in the desert so I'll check the TB for the need for a clean and catch can.

Sounds like the Seafoam TB treatment on crack. Thinking it might be worth it periodically since I'm in the desert.
While the truck is still under warranty, I'll probably have the shop do that if the TB has much on it, but for future or other vehicles, it looks like the BG tool is dealer only.. would something like this at Grainger be worth grabbing to do my own?

It is definitely a shop only tool. I just moved to an independent shop and we have the same tool from BG. There are other options, I believe seafoam has a can that works similar, I am sure there are others.
