I really liked my Gen 3 ecodiesel. It gave me no problems. I got up to 35 mpg highway when not towing. Overall mpg for city/highway combined was 29.5 mpg. This is actual as calculated and not from the "lie-o-meter", which was overly optimistic by about 1 mpg. It's bittersweet that I traded in the Bighorn ecodiesel on a 2025 1500 Laramie with the SO Hurricane. I did so because I wanted the options, such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, etc. Plus, I got an almost unbelievable discount on the SO Hurricane. I will be reporting on the SO Hurricane later on, but so far, it has been rock solid. As far as fuel costs go, the ecodiesel can't be beat and I think the gen 3 will prove to be reliable as well. I have now owned and towed with a Hemi, an Ecodiesel, and now a Hurricane. The per gallon fuel costs are almost identical for all three because I used midgrade in the two gassers, which is very close to the cost of diesel. Towing ability is about the same with each. My favorite engine of the three is the ecodiesel. The only thing that I miss about the Hemi is the V8 growl, but I'm getting used to the pleasant sound of the hurricane. The sound reminds me of the Oliver 1600 that I used to drive down on the farm.
