Hi, I am a international student studying in Los Angeles, California.
This is my first time to use Reddit and I hope you guys will forgive me for my terrible English.(and also I really hope that I don't break this Reddit's rules.)
I didn't originally plan to buy a truck, actually I wanted to buy a Toyota Supra (A.K.A. BMW Z4) but I've completely changed since I happened to see the RAM 1500 truck on YouTube.
So I'm trying to buy a 2021 Ram 1500 limited 4x4 crew cab 5'7"box model.(with almost all options added including the night edition)

But I have two problems now.
The first is parking, the second is the price.
Driving a truck is not a big problem for me. In my home country, I served as a Navy driver (mainly driving a big bus and a large truck) and got a new license without exchanging one in United States.
The problem is parking. My friends warned me that a full-size pickup truck would be too big to run around downtown LA or school, and that parking line would make my car protrude. (But I saw many people run around downtown LA in full-size pickup trucks. No obstacle can stop me. LOL)

The biggest problem is that I don't want to be a fool. The 2021 Ram 1500 limited 4x4 crew cab vehicle with the option that I want requires $74,000 MSRP from the dealership. However, after researching Kelley Blue Book, Cargurus, and Edmunds, I found that they usually sell for $54,000. Is the MSRP required by the dealership justified?
I just want to make a deal at a fair price, but I don't want to make the dealer suffer.
Also, I'm thinking of paying in a lump sum in cash when I pay.
My friends say it's crazy to pay more than $70,000 for a truck. But I really want that truck.
What should I do?

Welcome to the forum . A couple years ago the big discounts were normal but since COVID and part shortages the prices have stayed closer to MSRP . You still should be able to get some off though . As far as how big the truck is you just get used to it .

Rent a pickup for a couple of days and drive around LA and the school and see if it's what you want. Personally, I've driven pickups for over 50 years but unless I had a specific need for one, I'd buy a small sedan for what you are doing and then buy the pickup when you graduate.
In large cities it can be a mess to clear low entries on parking garages and use small parking space.

As a cash customer the dealer might just let you drive one for a couple of days.
