Hey all, this weekend I installed a set of the Husky splash guards. After the install I noticed that in the package were thin "paint protection" films strips (thes strips are barely 1/2" wide.) I went and looked at the mounted flaps and it didn't look like they were rubbing against the paint. In fact there seems to be an intentional gap between the OEM fender flair and the outer flap meaning that the flap wouldn't be rubbing against the paint. Did you guys install the strips?

Sorry for the lack of Picts, I'll take some when I get a chance....

I did, but I don’t recall whether they did much. But I’ve had ‘em on for five years now without issue.

I did the same thing. Only noticed them after the install. But since the install was only 3-4 bolts each side, I removed them and applied the tape just to be safe🤷🏻‍♂️

I was thinking the same, might as well right..... but it is funny how it appears they don't "do" anything....

I did not install them on mine. Wasn't too worried about the paint because I will never remove the Husky mudflaps and they attach to plastic fender flares, so no worries about wearing through paint and rust

That's the same reasoning I used when I tossed them in the trash. Any paint that is worn away will only be on the plastic, so no risk for rust. If the truck didn't have fender flares I probably would have used them though.
