For RAM orders, I see a lot of people getting discount which includes "guaranteed discount of current incentives at the time the order is placed, or better if incentives change.")

So if the truck arrives mid-month, can you tell the dealer that you want to wait until the first of the next month to see if incentives improve?

For example:
Date of truck order: $3000 incentive.
Month that the ordered truck arrives at dealership: $2500 incentive.
Wait until the 1st of the next month: $3500 incentive (if you're lucky).

Thoughts?

I suppose it's going to depend on the dealer, but I would expect most to be a bit irritated if you don't take it close to the time it's ready. If you have a deposit in on it there's not much they can do but wait though if you push the issue.

Maybe you could be "on vacation" for the first week, and then ask them to do some trivial task on it, and then tell them you can get up there the next weekend. That way you can get the delay you're trying to get without letting them know they're storing the truck for you for 2 weeks on the off chance doing so will allow you to pay less money for it.

The later in the model year you order, the bigger the incentives. I've always ordered my F150s in late April with a June delivery and had big rebates. Any later and I'd risk parts availability issues on my special order.

It depends on what you have in writing; I suspect most dealers (like mine) will at most document that you get the better of the current incentive or the incentive of when the truck arrives at dealership to discourage you from waiting on pickup, since that costs them money and insurance to store. Then, even if you wait two weeks after delivery to pickup for “Justifiable Reason X”, you do not get the new incentive for the new months.
