Being new to full-size trucks, from a Hyundai Santa Cruz, I'm learning many things I assumed were a given on the Hyundai isn't on the full-size trucks.
Being able to partly close the tailgate is one of those items.
The Hyundai had two cable mount points; just hook the cable over the upper stud and TADA tailgate is held halfway closed. Not just that, but it's at the same level as the wheel well bumps, so it could easily haul and support 4x8's in that little bed.
Yesterday, loading up a BMW R1100S, the rear tire was on the bed but stuck out too far to close the tailgate, and surprise no upper studs to hook the cables over. It looked like I could use the latch bolts but they are too girthy and the cable mounting points on the tailgate are threaded into the tailgate so can't quickly be swapped out on a whim.
Am I simply not seeing an easy solution?
