Hi, a strange thing happened last night. My garage door opened, I don't know how far but not all the way then closed again. I get notifications on cell phone anytime the door moves through Chamberlain's MyQ app. Then, through security cams I could tell it was only a little. No cam looks directly at the door so I'm working off reflections and shadows.
Of course this has never happened before. The only thing different is the addition of my new Ram and the built in home link opener which of course I programmed to this door.
Has anyone else ever had issues?
If you don't have anything to tell you, like security system, you may not know.
So be aware.

I have literally been standing in my garage talking to a neighbor when it has started closing on it's own...my truck bed sticking half way out. I've witnessed it happen just walking into the garage. Multiple occassions. There is no explaining it. I have wifi and the app as well and I have never had an instance where it did this while I wasn't home.

Assuming it's the homelink doesn't mean that's what actually caused it. I have MyQ as well. I have notifications turned off, unless the door fails to open or close. But I've never had an issue with door doing uncommanded opening. Even with three vehicles programmed to my garage doors

I'm going to carefully monitor this situation and it kinda sounds like I'm not alone.
HSK R/T You may want to watch closer also, if I did not have my notifications enable in MyQ, since it opened a little and closed again, I never would have known.

My wife works from home, and my street is pretty secure. Not too worried. Have security camera for driveway, and doorbell. Next door neighbors are both local police and a cruiser sets in street most of the time, plus he has his whole house surrounded by security cameras. Across street is a firefighter with his own security cameras. Couple retired military guys across street who are home all day.

You can't get away with anything there!

The week we moved in, when I brought my ATVs over, I ripped up and down the street once to get them warmed up since it had been a while since I rode them. Next time my neighbor saw me, he suggested I not do that again.

What a sour puss.
🙁

I understand and I also luckily am in a very quiet safe and secure area. (If there is such a thing anymore.) I'm just trying to troubleshoot this problem and maybe warn people who may not be as lucky as us.

Weird coincidence, maybe. Left the house this morning and my garage doors weren't showing on my Vivint app. MyQ integrated with Vivint. So opened up the MyQ app, and it's as if my garage doors were deleted from my account. They show up when I first open app, but it says smart hub off line, then it switches to add device, and the doors disappear. Had to text the wife to shut the door cause I had to get to work

This may not apply to any of the issues here, but I solved that problem at my place. My wife would call me every once in a while and tell me that I forgot to close the garage door when I left in the mornings. Then after she heard it open mysteriously a few times on her own, we started investigating. Turns out one of my neighbors had a garage door opener that would trigger ours. Not sure how or why, but we changed the switch settings to a different code, and it never happened again.

MyQ was doing site maintenance this morning, I had same on my app.

@Eighty .... You beat me to it. I was reading through this and was going to suggest the same. Change your switch settings, something in your neighborhood is triggering your door opener.
As for it being your HomeLink, the HomeLink in your RAM does not have power when the vehicle is off. It powers off after the ignition is turned off, doors closed and time out. Open the door and, the HomeLink is powered up. I discovered this while in my RAM on the phone, not using the vehicle link, and the vehicle was off for awhile. pushed the button for HomeLink and nothing....hmm why I thought. I opened my door and pushed again and viola

Good to know. Looks like it all back working again. I had tried doing a customer service chat, but it was before business hours, so no real person was available

Thanks but I'm still skeptical. I've been using Chamberlain products for 25 years or better and and MyQ since it's inception, around ten years ago in two different homes and Never had an issue. The only thing that has changed here is the addition of the Ram. Just because a system powers down automatically doesn't mean it can't turn on automatically again when things go awry.
I'm still open to opinions but I'm pretty convinced that homelink is the culprit.

Sounds a little like my neighborhood - two police, one retired military, one detective. It's nice to live someplace where you know if something does happen, people aren't afraid to take action

This thread reminded me to update my router info for MyQ. Switched internet providers quite awhile ago and forgot to change the WIFI access so haven’t been connected. Shows how much I actually use the app to open and close my garage door.

Never seen the problem discussed here with my opener. I suspect it was triggering off someone else’s opener. Just in case I activated my push alerts to monitor.

I use mine almost daily. When we moved in, there was only one clicker for each garage door. We have a four car garage. My Ram and Wife's car both have homelink buttons we have programmed. I have one clicker in our 1966 D100. But I don't have anything in my work van. So I use the app to open/close the garage door as I leave for work and come home. Van parks in driveway and just easier to open garage door and walk in through garage.

I closed mine from the bahamas!! Sister was housesitting the dog while we were gone and I noticed around 10pm the garage was still open. Thinking maybe she either forgot or this phantom opening had occurred I closed it from my app from the Bahamas. I mentioned it when I got back and she was like is that what happened??? I was on the patio and went to grab the heat lamp from there and I SWORE i had left it open! 🤣🤣
