HEMI coming back to RAM 1500?!

While I might not agree 100%, I think you nailed it pretty well. Guys who lease/trade trucks in every few years, guys who think fast is more important than reliability/cost, they're going to favour the hurricane.

Just saw a video the other day where a chrysler tech talks about the hurricane melting CC's. Not a quick/cheap fix on this either, they're not sure whether it's a flaw in specific converters or whether they just didn't expect those hot temps so much.

Also agree on the 2500, that's my likely next purchase, half tons are less and less capable for sustained work loads.
yeah i've seen way too many new hurricane owners complaining about their trucks spending most of their ownership thus far in the shop instead of on the road. i get it, people complain and not say anything when there's nothing wrong. but the percentage and the amount of complain posts are just way higher than that of good ole Hemi.

seeing quarter million miles 5.7s with nothing but regular maintenance done at the shop just gives me even more confidence in that good ole engine.

Warranties I get how it’s appealing to a lot of people and keeps a lot of people rotating vehicles every few years to keep one.

I had a talk with my dad about this.. he had a BMW 740I w/ a warranty. Seemed like every few months when I come back in town from work during downtime damn BMW was always at the dealer. The first few times.. he wasn’t worried about it because it was under warranty and was either working out the country and left my truck with him or had my Charger there instead so he always had a vehicle. After enough dealer visit he eventually came to his senses and went back to a GM vehicle.

Lets use for example the whole I6 misfire issues which still yet to still have an actual fix. From browsing the thread briefly it’s taken guys multiple trips to the dealership and still not resolved. They basically going through the hassle of scheduling an appointment.. waiting weeks for an opening, drop off, some get loaners.. some are on their own.. some ridiculous time goes by… gets truck back.. issue still not resolved.

^ I get maybe having to do this once or twice its inconvenient but diagnose process has to be a certain way but if it’s me after the second trip I’m questioning my choice… your basically a test mule with no surefire resolution at the end.

With the whole Covid disaster and the crappy staffing issues and backlogs that came with it (hell most still use this BS covid excuse for staffing issues/ long wait times till this day), I would really hate to have to rely on a dealers service department… one of the reason I didn’t just jump at buying a 19 when the 5th Gen came out… I rather wait and let the bugs be worked out.

The Hemi has its short comings and some aren’t as lucky with theirs but the fixes and issues have been posted several times so the issues and fixes are easily available and takes most of the guess work out of it. Makes it especially easy if you’re willing to turn your own wrench and eliminate the awful service departments. Now the Etorque systems… I won’t go there lol.

Here is the video about the converters. Have any of you had this issue along with a failed thermostat?
