Help. Tail gate feel off into my hand

Ok wtf my tail gate feel off into my hands. Im attaching a video. Need help figuring out which way the plate snaps in on wiring harness to truck. I think it possibly broke the plate. Lucky my phone was in my pocket and the tail gate is lite and could hold and call wife. No dents thank God.

Tailgate is designed to come out at 45 degrees, which is where it was according to your description. The tension from the linoleum in the bed pushed it out (normally you would have to lift.

I know it come out. Just didn’t realize how lite it was. If it was a heavy tail gate it wouldn’t have happen. Will sure be easy on it for now on.

So there is a plate that the wiring connectors attach to for the tail gate. The plate snapped out. Can’t get it to snap back. I’m pretty sure I have it right. Possibly broken tab that holds it. It’s just hard to tell.


Just watched my video. My choice off words lol. Tail gate didn’t snapped off. It popped of as it should if I was trying to. It back on correctly minus wire connection.

THESE tailgates are really easy to steal, due to how lite and how they sit in there. Just FYI, they actually make a tailgate lock band that goes around the right side "pole" (tailgate hinge cup), keeps it from being easily stolen, if U leave it unlocked. I personally, have a large GM radiator clamp around my right side pole to keep gate on truck and possibly deter a thief (cross fingers). Looks like U may have broken off a tab or two on that bottom wiring plate. IMHO, go to dealer, have parts guy come out access and prob have to buy a new plate. Unable to to say more as I have neva pulled out my tailgate on MY 19.
