Hi Everyone,

I have a Ram 1500 5,7 Hemi V8 from 2021 with 50k on it. The last couple of months the engine suddenly stops.

The engine starts go more rough, loosing power and then stops. When I try to start only the starter motor runs. But the engine does not start. It smells gasoline and it comes a lot of smoke from the exhaust. After a couple of minutes the engine starts but runs very uneven and rough for the first seconds. Then its working again.

This happens when its cold, warm, slow, fast. There is no pattern.

What can causing this? Is it ignition or fuel related?

Thanks for help!

Sounds like the plugs are fouled. Maybe check them out. Could also be an issue with the fuel. Maybe running rich.

Check the circuit breaker box in the engine bay, open it up and make sure all the bolts are tight and that none of them are missing. If it's just loose, it could give you intermittent issues. Check out this thread below....

I checked the circuit breaker box and all the nuts are tight. One nut is missing but on that one theres nothing connected. Same thing as in the pictures in the thread you are referring to.
We disconnected the ethanol system today and I will try and see whats happening the next days.

Gotcha, that missing center nut is normal. All nuts tight along with the ones on the battery itself, at least that removes that variable.

Understood!
After using the car for almost one week since we disconnected the E85 Ethanol system everything works as it should. I have not seen any issues at all. I think that was the solution.
