Hello, I am currently planning to upgrade my sound in my 2022 ram 1500 quad cab with the base 6 speaker. So far i have chosen the infinity reference 3 way 6x9 9633ix for my rear door. infinite reference 2 way component 6x9 9630cx for my front doors, with the tweeter going on my A pillar. And either the infinity reference 3.5 3022cfx or the Pioneer ts-a879 3.5 for my dash. These will be paired with a pioneer gm-dx874 4 channel amp with the front door and dash being wired in Parallel. Theoretically this should send 100w to back speakers at 4 ohms, and then split 150w between the front door and dash at 2 ohms. I will be using the pac amp pro for this and will also be using new speaker wire at wither 16 or 14 gauge depending on what i can fit through the door harness.
For the subs I have 3 different options. The first is using a prebuilt sub box from sound box that fits 2 12 inch subwoofers sealed down firing. The subs would be sundown sd4 12 inch (600w rms), the box is 1.75 cu ft with separate chamber which would be .875 for each sub and after the .1 displacement would leave me with .785 which is just barely below the .8 minimum recommended but should be fine. The second option would be using the fox acoustics sub box which is for 2 10 inch subs. Ported and tuned to 35hz. For this box i would be using the sundown sld 10 inch (600w rms)which after sub displacement would leave 1 cu ft per sub and is exactly what sundown recommend and even the 35ha tuning is what they recommend. I may even be able to use the sundown as classic subs but might be pushing it size wise. And the third option would be using the fox acoustics box with 2 10 inch jl audio w1v3 subs (300w rms) which call for .9 cu ft and tuning of 32hz Which i feel is close enough to 1 cu ft and 34hz to still sound very good .
Both enclosures would be powered by an audio pipe apmn1500 (1400 rms at 1ohm for the sundowns or 950 rms at 2 ohms for Jl audio) between the 2 options if the fox acoustics was 12inch it would be my fist choice but with it being 10 inch it becomes 2 10 ported vs 2 12 sealed. I currently already own the amp and also the sealed box, but the box was meant for a crew cab and sticks out of my seat by 4-6 inches. My main question is would I lose a lot of bass going the the fox acoustic or would it actually be better for me because it is ported and i mostly only listen to rap / hip hop/ some edm.
Also i know that adding the numbers up they come out to About 1700w rms for sundown and 1250 for Jl audio, but i also understand that this will only be at full volume which I don’t i will be using anything above 70 with most being at 50 or under , and most of the time the subwoofer would be off, wi will be widening this remote cable to a switch that can turn amp on and off and will be mainly only used 1-2 times a week for around 10-15 min. would my stock electrical be good for this? I will be using 0 gauge wire from battery to back seat then using distributor to run 4 gauge to 4 channel amp and 0 gauge to sub amp, will also be doing the big 3 with 0 guage .
I do not want to mess with second battery or high output alternator would i be good with the sundowns or just use the Jl audio and be able to have the subs on whenever i want without worries . i understand the sound from 600 watts and 1200 is only 3db and that realistically i would never be fully using the sundown to their full potentlal wile i will be using the JL to the full potential further lowering the 3db difference while also being far better for my electrical . But will the JL play the lows as good and as loud if the difference is not that substantial i feel like this is the way to go. Or will the sundown b hat much better
Thank you
