Just added a tailgate damper to my truck. 2021 ram 2500 is preped from the factory with the ball fittings behind the passenger side taillight. Damper is available on line for about $30.
Easy to install. Remove taillight mounting two screws from taillight and pop it out. You will find the ball fittings in the taillight space. One fitting is pretty low but is accessible from below the vehicle. Slip damper into the space and pop the bottom fitting of the damper on to the lower ball fitting from below the truck. Raise the tailgate and pop onto the upper ball fitting. Replace the taillight and you are done.
Works best with two people. One up top. Whole process takes about 1/2 hour.
