When a radio station is selected (more often on HD stations) what are the numbers next to the HD symbol Such as "HD 123". Usually one of those numbers is highlighted.

They are the sub-stations assigned to the FM station. Each analog FM station that broadcasts HD radio can broadcast up to 3 "sub" digital channels.

HD Radio Explained

HD FM Radio stations can have different programming on each subset.
Freq-1 could be country music
Freq-2 could be sports
Freq-3 could be talk radio.

Yea after work I went out and just started playing with knobs and stuff.

The tuning knob changes between the different stations on that single HD frequency.
