I've had a 2020 rebel, 21 Laramie, 23 big horn back country, and now I own a 21 big horn.

Never had a vibration issue on any of the trucks until I bought this 21. Start to see it at 45mph, calms down at 60, then picks back up bad north of 75 mph. On a super smooth road, the shake at 45 mph is comical. Steering wheel doesn't shake, it feels like rear end.

Specs: 2021 Big horn 5.7 etorque 4x4 No ORP, crew cab short bed. 18k miles. 20" night edition wheels

  • Truck had a slight wobble (feel it in the seat, floor) with the stock tires.
  • Had them road force balanced, no change.
  • Bought new cooper road & trail (stock size), no change.
  • Had them roadforce balanced again, no change.
  • Took the truck in and had them align it and inspect front and rear suspension - no issues found
  • Bought a like-new set of night edition rims, had the coopers warrantied and put on new rims -- So brand new tires and a "new" (used) set of rims - STILL VIBRATING

At this point, I can say it's not the rims and tires. Allegedly front and rear susp are clean, according to dealer...

Multiple huge threads on this issue, some claim it's the active dampers. MDS on/off doesn't make a difference for me.

Has anyone solved this issue? I've loved my Rams, but holy **** do I hate this truck.

Check the rear hubs for run out

See if you can get the driveshaft balanced. Check u-joints and trunion bearing on driveshaft. If it still has factory shocks, might not be a bad idea to have them replaced.

My 21 rode smooth as glass even with 35s on it.

I spent a lot of time chasing a shimmy in my 300 that has a 6.4. Yes I know, car different motor etc. but hear me out. It shook the steering at about 80 mph. I changed rims and tires, changed brake rotors (expensive!) Changed to a new one piece aluminum driveshaft. Rebalanced the tires multiple times. The alignment was good even with a lowered suspension. I figured it had to be the bushings but it needed to wait.

Finally, I got a new damper from ATI on sale. I never thought of the steering wheel vibration. But the new damper on the internally balanced motor solved my problem. Just something to consider.

I'm currently chasing this in my 2023 Laramie 4x4, only 6300 miles on it. I finally solved my "clunk" feeling with new body mount bushings...but I have the same shake exactly as you describe. I was convinced it's my wheels and tires, but like you, I've got brand new tires (Hankook DynaPro ATs) and 22" night edition wheels. I've had them road force balanced, my alignment just done once again to confirm that wasn't the issue. It's driving me insane.

I had a similar issue with my 2021 1500 Laramie, just bought the truck 8/24/24 and it’s been in the shop trying to remedy this issue for about 3 weeks total. Bent axle and/or bent housing. They just ordered a new rear end and I’m currently waiting for a call back to see if the part came in.

Please let me know if this solves it!
