So I basically ran out of gas today (on "low" and forgot my wallet). I couldn't get back home, pretty much stranded. Fortunately had a 5 gallon jug of gas for our lawn mower in the back. Attempted to add some gas, and it does nothing but overflow. Gas everywhere. Stupid situation. Had my wife bring a payment method and I fueled up. But wtf- you can't fuel these trucks except using a gas station pump? A jug won't work? To make matters worse, when I then did attempt to gas up at the pump, it refused to pump more than about a 1/4 gallon at a time. Handle kept clicking off as if it was full, presumably because there was residual gas from the jug backed up in the line. Another genius design concept from RAM incorporated.

yep, you have to use the special funnel.. anti siphon tank has some great advantages.. this is just one of the small drawbacks

all the makes have that, I had a little funnel for my last Silverado that came with the truck just for that purpose also.

Not as much of a design flaw as a user flaw. The manual shows a funnel is under the front passenger seat specifically for this purpose and to prevent the problem you had. Since you tried to fill without opening the check valve with the funnel, it' probably resulted filling the vapor return line with fluid causing the tank to over pressurize and kick off the pump nozzle. Hopefully if the line is filled with fluid, it will eventually drain out and resolve your fill-up issues at the pump.

I found that little white plastic funnel in the bed of my truck when I bought it and almost threw it out, LOL.
