Looking to change out my 10 ply Terrain Contact HT to there lower D rated 116T tire.

Currently running there 10 ply tire weighing in at 59pds per tire and rated to 3400+ lbs per tire.
Looking at the same tire but D rated 49pds @2756pds rated per tire.

Question: Would loosing 10 pds rotational mass per tire give me a improvement besides a smoother ride and Higher speed rating.

I dont tow, I dont run my Rebel off road, I bought it because it was the only New 2022 I could with the Eco diesel motor.

Question: Do I Need a 10 ply tire Really???

My truck is all about MPG, I travel to my trailer every week in the summer now that I am retired all Highway.
Thoughts?

From a payload standpoint it is overkill to have an E rated on a half ton. The advantage is less squirm when towing and more durability off road. You'll be fine, 1500's that arent Rebels come with C rated tires

Thanks.
Just confirmed what I was thinking.
Didnt realize I would drop to a C rated tire, but the Continentals have a very strong sidewall so I should be alright.
With the price of diesel in Canada, need to find some savings.
Cheers.

You won't have any issues with C rated tires with how you say you use your truck. I ran C rated tires on most of my half-tons over the years. The Rebel I used to own was the only one I didn't.
