I don't get why Mopar are so cagey about part numbers and pricing, and why everything you order is driven off your VIN ...but I beat the system. Is this unique to Dodge/RAM ...or Stellantis? I suspect not.
So I got a screaming deal on a 2020 RAM 1500 Longhorn with 9000 miles on it. Only thing is it had the trailer tow mirrors no, blind spot and no power folding. So I got the conversion kit from Infotainment, but I wanted to price-shop the mirrors.
Anyway, quickly discovered that the two options were - Chinese/Tawanese aftermarket knockoffs or top dollar like $1500-$2000 for Mopar OEM. ...and the knockoffs were often missing things like auto-dimming or memory.
Don't know if anyone else has gone down this rabbit hole, but I found a site where you can look up the build sheet for most 5th gen RAM 1500 VINs (Build Sheet by VIN), spent one afternoon, wrote some shell scripts that scrape off that site, parse out the build sheet, and then can scan it for exactly the mirror features I wanted.
It ended up taking very little time to find matches by looking at used truck listings on autotrader, cars.com etc. ...part numbers for the features I wanted, are: driver: 68462777AB, passenger: 68276506AH. But the more important thing seems to be to have the last 8 of some VINs that map to those part numbers. So I have a couple of those for future reference.
Just finished installing them this afternoon and reprogramming my AlfaOBD. I ended up not saving a whole lot, think I paid $1200 for the set (including tax & shipping). I probably could have saved more by buying used, but I went with new OEM.
But if I ever want to customize anything else using OEM parts, I've got that script ready to go now.
