Gas filler neck

I am not too sure what the part is called. When I put gas in, the pump keeps stopping and popping out, and it smells of gas. That is why I'm assuming it is stopping. Is there any way I can assess this myself without taking it into the dealership? I dont even know where to start.

Plenty of posts on here about. I tried to find the recent one that talked about the fix. But you can search and find them all. It happens when you overfill past the first click.

After 50K miles the vehicle began to develop problems refueling. The gas pump would shut off after 50 cents or it would take 20 minutes to get $5 in the tank. So many posts say it is the filler neck so I went got a new Mopar filler neck but no it didn't help. Then they say ''it's the charcoal canister". I took the canister off and it weighed 1.2 pounds more than a new one and it smelled of gas. I was certain that this new one would solve the problem but still unable to introduce gas into the tank.
