2019 coil wins, by miles. I was really reluctant to go "back to coil from the 2017 Rebel with air... but holy moly - no comparison.

2017 Rebel was 4-corner air and on the stock tires, Toyo Open Country. The 2019 is Laramie on 22" with Goodyears and coils. Still, almost not even worthy of comparison.

Just an FYI for those on the fence!

What specifically is better about coil? Ride? Handling? Thanks for any info

I went with coils because I got sick of the air ride in my Grand Cherokee not working anytime it got below 30 degrees. Plus, it was the only major failure that car had - total failure at 17k miles, but the dealer did get it all fixed in 2 days.

Not if your towing anything. Air ride definitely is better in that scenario.

Did you test drive the 2019 Air Ride with 22" Goodyears? Smooth like a Grand Daddy Caddy! Everyone that has ridden in my truck says WTF this can't be a 4x4.... I have been in both but only the Coil on 18" stock 2019, not the Coil with 22". You can't go wrong with either setup.

I can’t speak to towing as someone noted above. So with that caveat.

But to me - overall. It feels both more responsive/stiffer, but also eats up road chatter like butter.

I will say the steering feels a little different from the 2017, but just suspension alone, and not towing, comfortable and responsive, noticeably different.

That I hear - point taken. I’m towing pretty infrequently, so I’ll lose there.

To be fair, I didn’t try the coils v. Air all things the same, my observation was just from the 17 air to 19 coils. But I believe you!
