As a retired in 2020 teacher I can assure you that no school system of that size is equipped to handle an influx of that many kids, much less ones that don't even speak English. Teachers and officials cannot communicate with them or family members. Throw in the lack of prior schooling and the societal/economic differences and you have a looming disaster.
Don’t think that the “regular” kids aren't negatively impacted by all of this, it’s pretty much a lose-lose for everyone except the migrants.
Sure glad that everything in this country is “A-ok” at the present or things like this could be really uhh, divisive.
