2025 ram 1500 Lonestar, Level 2 tech package and such. Went to run around with the wife on Thursday after work (WFH that day) and found on the right hand side there was about a 14 inch crack in my front windshield. Odd.

Thankfully I pay out the NOSE for full coverage with comprehensive coverage and 0 deductible so I opened a case with USAA, and Safelite was out today to replace the window. Unlike others noted in this forum I guess for USAA?? I don't know but I got a full OEM new windshield installed. 0 out of pocket so far.

I may have to pay the 400 some odd dollars to re tint the front windshield as Safelight claims that is not covered. Either way that's like a deductible at this point since I was 0 out of pocket for the windshield.

Some notes around this...

1. Reaching a human through the USAA phone tree... impossible for claims (At least during the weekend). Found a tip on line, claimed fraud on my USAA CC and got to a person who transferred me to a claims person. So know that for your own reference.

2. Has anyone else had this sort of half U shape crack happen on their 5th gen rams, passenger side from the A piller, toward the center 6-8 inches then curves up from there??

Either way problem is solved for now until I have to have the tint re done. Just waiting on the USAA claims adjuster to let me know one way or the other.

Without a picture its sorta hard to visualize the crack. Before the rams I was a jeep fella a cracked windshields were just part of cost of ownership. I haven’t had the same experience with rams, But that doesn’t mean its not a similar problem.

Jeep windshields often crack when using the defroster on cold days. Perhaps thats what led to your issue 🤷‍♂️ instead of usinf the auto function set your ac to warm your cabin with remote start. If frost is a problem you can set it to defronst once you’re in and it will defrost quickly since the cabin is warm.
Once I started doing that with my jeeps the number of windshield issues reduced substantially.

Unfortunately 70s to 90s here. And I didn't get a picture unfortunately. Ah well.. but its odd for sure.
