I was changing my oil again and noticed on the drivers side drove shaft at the front transmission there's a massive amount of rust spray. It could certainly be because it gets wet and flings back there, but my main question is if this area should be greased up or otherwise to prevent this build up. I don't know that it allows water to get where it shouldn't be, but I don't recognize any actual seal going into the front transaxle. Pic for clarity on what I'm seeing.

There are no seals or any lubrication on the splines on either side from the factory.
Short of taking them apart and applying axle grease, I would try to spray some sort of lube to try and minimize rusting.

Corrosion X will work, its a simple spray, similar to WD-40, but more than a water repellent, it actively neutralizes rust and prevents it from coming back. Also great for electronics, protecting them even from salt water.

We have used Corrosion X for decades in the boating and RC Boat/Aviation hobbies since we run primarily in salt water. Just buy a can on Amazon, spray it down and wipe off the excess.

PB Blaster, I hit mine once a month or so. There is some play in the connection between the stub and axle, if you push up on the inner cv joint it will help promote the capillary action of penetrating oil
