Been having service 4wd light coming on and dealer wanted to charge me $900 to replace the wiring harness and actuator. I can buy both parts for undet $150. My question is how does the wiring harness unhook from the top. The bottom has a red tab that slides then you push down and pull out. I had this off already. The top plug is different and I didn't want to rip any wires out taking it apart. Any help would be appreciated. My brother in law said start with the wiring harness first and then if 4wd light keeps coming on will change the actuator.

Did the dealer provide you with the diagnostic report showing the codes coming across the CAN bus ? Just curious.

No, on report they didn't show the codes. This was a warranty claim that they denied because I have a six inch lift on my truck. In order to accommodate the lift the wiring was rerouted from its original position. 2 years ago, lol. In the report it says the wiring is bad and that 4wd works in all modes, which it does. As soon as you start driving it comes up service 4wd. Mybrother in law is a mechanic and says it's the wires most of the time. Mine are covered in oil from the dealers oil changes. Just don't know how to remove the upper clip.

Just a thought...Look up the part on the Mopar order site (there are some with detailed schematics) and see if you can zoom in on the harness you are interested in. Best of luck.
