Fold out deck for rear seats?

My 4th gen Sport had a flat deck you could fold out from under the rear seats after you folded them up to make the back seat level for groceries or whatever else you may put there. I used it for my dogs but my 5th gen does not have any sort of deck and I can’t seem to find anything about them online.

I’m thinking of building one but if I could avoid it I would like to. I appreciate any insight!

That 4th Gen platform was handy. I was disappointed to see it gone in the 5th Gen. My dog liked it because he could look out the window better.

I liked it too. I realize they eliminated it because the floor is flat on the 5th Gen but the slightly higher height was just the perfect spot. I ended up building one for my dog too.

Ah I see you’ve got the crew cab I gotta figure out some dimensions for my quad cab. What in all did you use? Just plywood, 2x4s, legs and some carpet?

Great job on the platform. I bet your best friend loves it! I'm sure you repurposed legs from a couch or something, but shaping them like dog bones would have put it over the top. 🦴 :p

I was thinking about building a platform but tried this and has been working out great. Never have to vacuum dog hair anymore. Just remove it and shake out.

I definitely overbuilt it for sure. I used a 2×4 to rest across the back over the seat supports and used 5/4 plywood as the platform. ( I think the platform in the 2014 ram was probably only 3/8 of an inch) I used a 5×7 carpet from Home Depot and some 9 inch furniture legs and mounting plates I also bought from HD. I stained the legs and the 2x4 with India ink and sprayed them with a few coats of polyurethane. My only regret is I should have used a matte poly instead of gloss.
