Are you running Stock tires? If so, any real pucker moments?

Stock tires and didn’t have any issues. I had a lot of issues with a 2015 Ram 1500 and went to a 2500 now back to the new 1500.

What type of issues did you have with your 2015? I had a 2012 for a while that i could never get to tow right.

Are you using a weight distribution hitch with that? I am looking at trailers right around that 6,000 lb range. No experience with a trailer that heavy, so don’t know if I need one.

Can you provide the type of hitch and what type of roads/speeds you were towing your trailer on?
thx

You should always use a distribution hitch on campers. Best to keep everything as level as possible, especially with water and waste tanks under there. I use one on mine, and it's only sitting at about 3000 lbs. My WDH is an anti-sway, as well. Makes for a great, smooth ride.

I use an Equalizer WD hitch and drove on a state highway 55-60. There were some hills and it happened to be windy that day. The dry hitch weight is 695lbs. We did have stuff in the trailer but propane tanks were empty and had nothing in the truck. I am very pleased so far after a not so pleasant tow with a new 2015 Ram 1500 which prompted me to move to a 2500. The 2500 was a great truck but the new 1500 is so much better for everyday driving and also for the occasional towing that we do.

The truck sagged a lot towing the trailer and always felt like the truck was on the edge of being out of control. I had the hitch setup checked by an RV dealer and they said it was properly set up. I just think the suspension was too light.

Have you experienced any push from other vehicles while towing this configuration?

I drove a 2014 quad cab express 4x4 with the 5.7 and 3.21 gears. My trailer with water tanks full, came somewhere near 6k loaded. With no suspension help, it sagged a lot. But I replaced the rear suspension rubber bump stop with timbren suspension helpers on the truck. Then I set up my equalizer hitch and the trailer traveled fine and there were no concerns. But I also drive around 60mph when towing a trailer. I'm never in a hurry when I am towing. So if the trailer wasnt acting right, the trailer weight distribution hitch was not set up right in my opinion. I now tow the same trailer with a 2019 crew cab laramie, 6.5 bed, 3.21 rear end, 4x4 and the 5.7 engine. Tows really nice too.

Do you have the air suspension? Are planning to weight the setup at a CAT scale station?

No I don’t have the air suspension. I just towed my camper over 100 miles through upstate New York both interstate and rural with no issues at all. There was no sway or significant bouncing. I’m really happy with my setup!
