Hello all,

Proud owner of a 2020 1500 night edition 5.7 etorque with 3.21 gears, had I known better beforehand I would've went 3.92s. Other than that, LOVE my truck!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new truck.

Welcome! Yes the 3.92 is a great ratio for this truck, you can always change that out later ;)

Welcome and Congratulations! I too came from Ford. So happy I found the 5th gen RAM. Like you I’m in LOVE with this truck. I didn’t really pay any attention to the rear gears when I bought mine. This forum got me looking at it. However after some thought I’m happy and comfortable with the 3.21’s I have. My Raptor had 4.10’s in it and although it was freaky fast, it also seemed to amplify the crappy shifting of that terrible 10-speed transmission.

Thanks everyone. I am looking at wanting to do a lift and tire combo for my truck. I am contemplating either a 2 inch level or a 3.5 inch lift, and either 285/60r20 or 295/60r20 tires. Any suggestions on a combination would be very helpful :)

Another convert from Ford like I was. Course comparing a 2015 2.7 F150 to a 19’ Limited is apples to walnuts. Still, I’d put our Ltd against a Ford Platinum model anyday. Now the 21’ minor redesign from Ford is an improvement but... these stats line up pretty well with the Limited RAM. Note the fuel mileage with the 5.0 V8 is about identical to our hemi:
2021 Platinum
$62,535 Starting Price (MSRP)
Engine 5.0-liter V8 Gas
Transmission 10-Speed Automatic
Drivetrain Four-Wheel Drive
Body Type Super Crew 4 door
Seating capacity 5 seater
Fuel Economy
City: 16 MPG
Hwy: 22 MPG

The Ford dealership close to me has a 20’ Lariat that they want more for than I paid for my Limited RAM. The two trim levels aren’t even close!

Ford is really going to have to swallow their pride and reduce the profit margin on their trucks to something below 40% if they want to stop the bleeding of the exodus to RAM.
Oh, and they're going to also have to step up their fisher price interiors too.

Congrats and welcome to the other side! I came from 20 years of Ford trucks (1997 F-150 5.4L and 2003 Ford F-250 diesel). For me none of the other trucks could match the comfort and personality that the 5th gen RAM has.

The EcoBoost may beat me to the next stop light but that's not why I have a truck. I prefer the rumble of my V-8 over the Honda Accord exhaust of the EB regardless of the 0-60 time.

Ha I liked your statement about the exhaust rumble. Hemis aren’t for great gas mileage but its a beautiful truck.

Trucks aren't great for gas mileage in general.

Sure I'd like to be prudent in my fuel usage but, at the end of the day, it is what it is.

If fuel economy was a legitimate concern for me I wouldn't be in a 5700 lb vehicle with the aerodynamics of a smooth brick. 😉
