Was driving on the interstate yesterday and felt a thud similar to what you hear sometimes when you downshift a gear too early? At that same time, the dash lit up and threw a check engine light and the message “Service Electronic Stability Control System”. Note that I was cruising smoothly at 70mph when this happened and I did not hit anything or roll over any bumps to cause this.

I kept driving as I was about an hour away from home and there was no issue until I came to a stop during the 5pm rush hour traffic. As soon as I slowed down, the car stopped and would not accelerate until I shifted into P and then back into D. Fortunately it began moving again and I wasn’t stranded in the middle of rush hour!

I had to make a stop on the way home and was hesitant about turning the vehicle off, but I did so and then restarted a moment later just to make sure it would start again. No issue.
Went into the store and came out about 20 min later... couldn’t get the vehicle to start.
called the wife to let her know she might have to come get me, but it finally started and I continued the drive home. Along the way the vehicle had to be shifted into P and then back to D twice more. And I also got the message “service Trailer Brake system”.

needless to say, I called my local dealership on the way home and requested a service appointment to address the issue. I am still waiting to hear back as to when that might be able to happen...

in the meantime, we were to be leaving this weekend for an out of town fishing trip and would be towing a trailer. The trailer doesn’t have brakes, so the brake system issue shouldn’t effect that, but I worry about whether these issues need to be addressed ASAP or whether it would be safe to use? Obviously the Ram dealership doesn’t see it as a pressing concern? 2019 ram with 32k miles

2020 Ram 1500 ecodiesel.
No issues up until today.
Got in and warnings after start:
Service ESC.
and then....
Service Trailer Brake System.

No impacts. No nothing!
What gives here?
