First All Highway Tank

After spending the first, almost 3 months in the city averaging around 12.5 mpg, I was able to burn my first all highway tank of gas (@79mph) and averaged 20.3mpg. Better than I ever got in my 2012 300, or 2010 1500...

Cruise set posted+9 as much as the traffic would allow.

Yeah mine gets around 18.5 to 19.5 city and highway. The city driving isn't good

20 mpg is about the best I got when in flat Florida with cruise control on 75. Thats a Laramie, crew, 5.7 , 3.92 gears with a vararam and pulsar on economy.. I am at about 18 -19 mpg highway in GA and TN.. Guess the hills make a difference.

I'm surprised by that last sentence; seems like the 2012 300 shoulda been able to outpace a Ram... unless it was AWD.

In city. I get like 13mpg - however, my city is built around the highway traffic. Not very impressed with the gas mileage at 1100 miles.

I am jealous, I just hit 3000 miles and struggle to get anything above 15 mpg on the highway. I just don't understand why a "break in period" is even required. I have never had a vehicle that takes a couple thousand miles to start showing manufacturer listed gas mileage.

The 300 had 3.91 gears. I think the best I ever got in it was like 19 with a tail wind going down hill...

Truck was at 2299 miles when I refilled the tank tonight. 475 miles (DTE would have been 511 on that tank) 3.26 gears. Lonestar. From Dallas to near Memphis. The last 100 or so miles are up some of the mileage...thinking it might be from climbing up from the Mississippi river.

For me, I don't sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic...just a lot of lights. I do run about 4 miles of interstate each way to work.

Ok that makes sense but still if i am cruising on a highway @ 75mph with cruise control on my gauge still reads 10.5-11.0 average mpg

I'm at about 675 miles on my truck so far, and have yet to get through a full highway tank. Hoping to do so on a trip next weekend. I haven't reset my MPG gauge since I bought it and I'm at 10.6 MPG, with a noticeable difference between highway and city. Driving a truck in the city of Chicago isn't the most ideal, especially in the winter with cold temps and plenty of snow. And even on the highway, you're bound to run into heavy traffic in the city. Eager to see what kind of mileage I'll get on my first road trip.

Re you clearing it? It takes a long time to up a bad average....perhaps you only got excellent grades in school.

Yes I "reset" my gauge. The numbers I used for average are based off what grade octane I'm using, (83-93). And no I did not get good grades in school.
