Carry H3R Halguard extinguishers in our 2 older mopars, so decided to put one in the Rebel. The H3R in the Roadrunner was used once to put out fire caused by gas line leak onto intake manifold. The 440-6 engine has 3 carbs and multiple gas line connections. The Halguard contains a non-corrosive, clear agent and is popular for classic cars. In my case it worked perfectly, with only a damaged harness to replace.

Where to mount? Used to live next to city fire chief. His advice was to mount a vehicle extinguisher as close to driver as possible. Decided to fab a bracket mounted under driver seat frame, secured by seat bolts. Had to account for the floor hump in the middle and seat track trim covers. Got half right (more on this later).

Ordered the H3R HG100B (1.4lbs) extinguisher first so I could use it to mock/measure for the bracket so as to not interfere with seat operation and minimize floor area incursion. In the mockup below the extended bracket on the right is required to clear the inboard seat track cover. This required a bit of carpet cutting but all that is hidden by the track cover. The extinguisher came with a mounting bracket with release which I welded to my bracket. My bracket is height adjustable to clear the floor hump.

Pic below left is finished bracket mounted without extinguisher and without seat track covers. Installed the track covers, inboard was perfect, outboard (right side in pic) not so much. The outboard seat track cover has 2 alignment guides on the rear to mate with existing trim and a single push fastener in front that lines up with seat track opening. The upright on my bracket was blocking full engagement of the push fastener. Two options, modify bracket (PIA) or cut small relief in track cover trim, about 1/4in deep x 1/2in wide. Decided on relief. Its hidden anyway with seat in normal driving position. Second pic shows extinguisher mounted with track covers in place, bracket relief on right cover.

Below is a couple views of extinguisher with driver seat in normal position. The extinguisher is pretty much hidden and yet easily removed by the single release handle.
