i know ram/direct connection released their supercharged street truck not too long ago. any idea when the blower kit will become available for regular trucks?? would be interested if it comes out with warranty instead of going third party with no warranty

Unlike the 6.2, the stock 5.7 is not designed for boost, anything beyond 5 or 6 psi and you're asking for trouble.

One nice thing about the 5.7 is its been around long enough, you can source a lot of parts to make it stronger and handle more boost. That is a frequent discussion in Challenger/Charger forums, the consensus is generally that for supercharging short of a Hellcat motor, the 5.7 was better/easier than the 6.4 for upgrading to handle more boost.

I knew at one point a couple Jeep guys that supercharged the 5.7 in their Grand Cherokee Trailhawks, rather than doing Hellcat powered Trackhawks, because they wanted to be able to do some offroading.

i wonder how much boost they’re currently doing on the direct connection truck then..

I have no idea. But we have definite knowledge of what happens when you boost a 5.7 and I'd never recommend that without supporting mods.

Obviously the 5.7 can take enough boost to get to 650hp reliably, else ram wouldn't warranty it. And until ram gets their act together and make a street version of the trx, we don't have a lot of options.

majority would disagree..

brand new trx msrp is 102K. a buyer can get a brand new bighorn/laramie and put on a blower for a lot less than 102K.
i agree to a point. 102k new.......LOL i will never buy NEW again. a vehicle is too much of a depreciating asset. i have a laramie it's 2wd no ET and i intentently got 2wd. i would lower it and do the kit kind of opposite of a trx. i assume putting that whipple on it at least 5k in labor so that kit is more like 15k. if it's done wrong and it blows up it could easily end up costing as much as a used trx. not to mention you would be voiding your 10-100k warranty if you do it to a new truck.

yeah i read around too that adding force induction to stock 6.4L motors is not recommended

i'd be satisfied with 650HP for an everyday driver, no need to get 800+ HP for a daily driver...

just got an email back from direct connection. supercharger kit estimated release date is summer of 2026 with estimated MSRP of 10K.
