It is so hard to believe how much repairs cost at the dealership. My driver side power running board needed a motor and hinge replaced. It was grinding and vibrating badly when deploying and storing. So I disabled them and took it in for repair. I have the extended warranty that fully covered it so it only cost me the $100 deductible. HOWEVER the receipt shows the value of the repair was $1058. The parts were $745, labor was $313. Just seems so expensive for a motor and hinge. Thank God I have the extended warranty.

MOPAR or dealership warranty (3rd party included)?

Those things are such a gamble. Especially in cold weather. I'd love a set but I know half the year they'd be useless. Most people that have them up here end up leaving them extended during winter to avoid issues.

My warranty is shown in my signature. I purchased it when I bought the vehicle new. It is managed by Assurant. It has been a good experience so far and I am glad I bought it. The boards are standard equipment on my trim level so the "gamble" was built in. I really like them and how they operate. My one did malfunction this month, but where I live I don't have cold weather issues so unaffected by the weather.

Sorry I have those disabled. Too many users put an entire website down there :ROFLMAO:

But yea, that sounds about right.

Last summer I had an intern who accidentally ran over a hole and sheered off my passenger side running board. The running board was fine, the motor was fine, the hinges just broke. Turns out the hinge can’t be purchased without the motor, it’s sold as a single part (probably because it’s press fit together). Just the new part was several hundred dollars. Swapping it out took maybe an hour and most of that was finding the right tools.
