First off hate it...would stick with it for now, except it leaks excessively!
I know none are waterproof.
I can see daylight at the corners of the cab and along the rails where the trifold folds. And at the tailgate, but they all leak there somewhat.
I've been to two dealers and neither seem to want to help. It's just not mine or related to limiteds. One dealer had a 2025 Tunsten on the show room floor with the same issue!!!!
No idea of the brand of the trifold, no stickers or decals.
Anyone having the same issues??
I'm looking at the gator rollup, any issues with them?

I got my cover from Real trucks because I hate that oem style of cover that uses rails. I had one like it on my chevy and it leaked excessively also. the cover I purchased from real truck is a gator brand tri fold that sits on top of the truck bedsides. I did have to put a strip of RV foam weather seal under the front seal between the cab and the bed between the bedrails is all. mine leaks from the joints but a tiny amount that you almost can't tell and you have to directly spray water at the joint to get it to do that.
I will never by another flush mounted cover like the oem one is they are the worst.

I have a 25 Rebel with the factory tri fold. Mine leaks some as well.

More concerning to me though is the cover slides towards the tailgate too easily. I noticed when it does that more air passes underneath from the front. I was on the highway doing over 70 and was nervous it was going to sail away.

I just started looking for some way to lock it down more for piece of mind.

Yeah, I did not care for the factory covers when I looked at them before I ordered my truck.

well i also have a mopar branded tri fold flush unit it has 2 drains and yes it lets alot more water in the bed than the top mount trifold i had on my last truck. it is a truck bed after all i accept that it is not going to stay dry. tri folds are not waterproof. get a body color fiberglass i piece if you want the bed to be a trunk.
after doing some research i have come to the conclusion the mopar is a rebranded BAKFlip MX4

I have the Line-X Truck Gear LXP version of the Bak-Flip MX4. It had the notorious leaks around the tailgate/body gaps where they meet. I carried it back to Line-X and they retrofitted some rubber molding in this gap to divert the water away. If this leak is so common, why would it not be possible to just continue just a few inched the last panel to the very end of the body and adjust the fit and look across the tailgate accordingly? May have to flair it out a little at the ends. It seems the tailgate would close and latch the same? On the Rams they stop short of the real area that will leak.

I was thinking of adding some weather stripping or some sort of tailgate sealer in those gaps. Would you happen to have a picture of that retrofit that you could share? Perhaps it's an easy DIY fix.

That's a shame. My factory tri fold has held up well for almost 5 Yrs now. May be because I've got the ramboxes but the only place I get any water intrusion is at the tailgate gap. Usually remedied by just making sure my cargo that needs to be dry is kept closer to the cab.

I have the Mopar soft trifold. It's excellent - makes the bed water tight and has held up extremely well. My truck is a '20 so I wonder if they have changed them.

My 21 had the standard tailgate and leaked some right there at the back but not too bad. My 25 has the MFT and has giant gaps on each side of the tailgate. I'm thinking I can just add some thick weather stripping in those gaps and shouldn't interfere with closing the tailgate.

Here is what I did.

Everyone:
Follow-up. The repair did not help and even seemed to make matters worse. Here are photos after driving through simple quickie touchless car wash. Is this a RAM 1500 design issue or a defective Line-X LXP aka (BAKFLIP MX4)? Your comments are appreciated.

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 with a snap cover - never had an issue with water and the cover. 2019 Ram 1500 and have had 4 different covers, all let water at the front near the cab in the corners. My opinion is it is the design of the beds. 2001 is metal and level all around. 2019 has the plastic sides that are snapped into place and are a different height to the top rail on the cab side. I also believe water is able to infiltrate between the plastic side rails and metal top rail at the corners. I have been thinking of blowing in closed cell foam into those corners. My concern is that I do not see a viable way of removing the foam if there is any negative consequences.

What is confusing is that the Line-X LXP and the Bakflip MX4 are the exact same Bakflip products. Even the serial number starts with BK on the LXP sticker. However the Bakflip MX4 has a 30 day refund policy and the LXP offers the lifetime warranty but no refund if you are dissatisfied. Because it leaks like a sieve, that would make a difference in this situation.

Holy cow!!!!! And I thought my leaks were bad. I've got a trifold without any branding from the factory. I'm starting to believe the cover is defective.
My leaks are from the cab corners and where the trifold folds. I expect some from the tailgate.

those bakflip covers are the worst in my opinion. I had one on my silverado and never again.

I know this is an older thread, but I had to update for those interested. My Line-X LXP branded Bakflip MX4 is coming off. Wasn't on there a month and the shop is taking it back under warranty. He said the panels were waterlogged. I agree...never again. Might be better or worse but I am going with an Undercover Elite.
