Factory bed lights covered by bed liner

I just bought my truck and it came with a bed liner. I found out the bed has factory bed lights on all four corners of the bed, which are being covered up by the bed liner. Has anyone modified or cut out the bed liner for this? I am thinking that even if I cut out the bed liner the lights are about 2-3 inches separated from the bed liner and would still not light up the bed good. Maybe if I remove them from the bed and pull out and install on the liner? Anyone done this?
