Can anyone provide info on getting an extended warranty or is it better to go 3rd party for extended coverage? Trying to find the best coverage/deal.
TIA,
MJ

You may want to search on this topic; you’ll find good resources for Mopar MaxCare warranties at good prices.

SpeedyV is correct as there are numerous posts concerning your question and they all have the same conclusion - only purchase a genuine Mopar extended warranty. Anything else will leave you wishing you had purchased the Mopar extended warranty.

My recommendation is go to the following website: https://www.chryslerfactoryplans.com/default.aspx

Feel free to search the forum for these guys and you’ll find a ton of info.

I got my warranty through FCA and it’s awesome. Dealer tells me it’s easier to deal with, makes claims easier to put through - less ball ache for them translates to less ball ache for me. Gold level also includes rental car for anything more than same day. I doubt it cost much more than anything third party and it’s worked into my financing so basically free, plus there’s great flexibility with term and mileage options.

I agree with everyone above. ONLY the Mopar Vehicle Protection options should be considered and I would do the MaxCare option. Third party warranties ONLY exist for one very specific reason-to make the warranty company and the dealer $$$$. They could care less about customer satisfaction.

Mopar obviously wants to make some $$ too and help the dealer make a little more margin which is only fair. The difference is it is company-backed so there's no finger-pointing and they are offering it more as a customer-satisfaction and peace-of-mind tool than to pad pockets.

What's more if you trade the vehicle before the term of the MVP runs out you are refunded the pro-rated amount so there's really nothing to lose. I'm most likely adding it to my truck on order once it arrives. I'll buy from the dealer if they'll match or come close to the "online" options otherwise I'll purchase ala' carte on my own.

I firmly believe in the value of a factory-backed extended warranty as I see the "ugly side" of not being covered on a machine without that coverage on the equipment I sell. I don't care who the manufacturer is........ALL mechanical/electrical/man-made devices can and will eventually have issues. It's a fact of life. The cost of bells and whistles and even standard components of vehicles are very expensive to replace and/or repair anymore so it just makes sense to pre-plan for those potential majors........

Maybe you mis-spoke there. Just because you financed it with your truck purchase doesn't make it free. It's just that you don't notice it as much because it's broken out into 48, 60, 72, 84 months, or however long your payments go for. I mean, you can think it's free if it makes you feel better, but it most definitely cost you more than it would if you had just paid it all at once.

I agree with you about getting the Mopar plan though. I've had too many headaches in dealing with 3rd party contracts. Never again LOL.

I financed my truck at 0% for 84 months so that’s $35 a month for peace of mind. If you’re someone who’s monthly budget depends on whether your truck payment is $400 or $450 sure, not free. Not to sound like a **** but it costs me more in gas to drive to my lake house than it does to increase my warranty. It’s free to me.

Not to sound like an *** but you must be one of the advisors to Uncle Joe who keeps saying his $3.5T proposed budged increase will cost zero dollars. 😉

If it’s an extended warranty, a hair cut or a tax increase I’m pretty sure it’s coming out of my pocket and isn’t free. 🙂

Third-party warranties suck. I've been on the other side of the counter dealing with these people. Guy brought in a Suburban with dead AC. Found a leak on the AC condenser. To remove it, the radiator had to come out. The warranty company covered the cost of the condenser and the labor to replace it, but they don't cover fluids. So the customer had to pay for the antifreeze I drained, and the refrigerant I had to put in to recharge the AC!

Clearly you don’t understand inflationary spending. It is free. As long as Sleepy Joe keeps the pedal on inflation by spending and printing money, the debt by and large pays for itself as the dollar devalues. Think about this. $1.75T is being thrown around as a reasonable compromise number very casually this week. $1.75T even in the 90’s was unfathomable. However, thanks to inflation, $1.75T will seem like peanuts once inflation coupled with further government spending and money printing bring the total debt to 12 figure levels. Carrying debt at low rates is an extremely desirable situation when inflation is high - as long as you are protected from being crippled when rates rise. Unfortunately our federal governments are not at all prepared for that part.

Clearly you don’t understand there isn’t a thing in life that is “free” or “costs you nothing”. If you think you got an extended warranty for free - yet admit you’re making 84 monthly payments for the truck, extended warranty and whatever else the dealer piled on to give you that interest free financing - then your salesman, sales manager and finance manager excelled at doing their job.

Just because you have the ability to pay cash for something does not mean you should. Find one person on this forum with any financial sense who would pass up this offer and I’ll give you $100. Read my original comment, I wasn’t speaking in absolutes and explained what I meant by “free”. You really think someone who buys a $3000 warranty thinks it’s “free”? On top of the interest free financing I negotiated almost $12,000 of MSRP as well as an additional $10,000 extra trade in value on my old truck. I’m very happy with every aspect of my transaction, and FCA is eating interest payments on a $90k truck for 7 years.

Did you miss the 0% part? If you didn’t and stand by your comment then you’re a complete bozo. Just because you have the ability to pay cash for something does not mean you should. Find one person on this forum with any financial sense who would pass up this offer and I’ll give you $100.

Again, you did not get an extended warranty for free. You are paying for an extended warranty…you may have financed it for free - just like I did - but you are paying for an extended warranty.

P.S. There is no “gold level” Mopar extended warranty. Makes one wonder exactly what you purchased.

Obviously I paid for it. Thanks for the semantics lesson. I’ll rest easier tonight knowing I cleared up the confusion for you.

No problem…English is our first language in the U.S. Hit me up anytime.

I guess I'm odd man out... For my last 3 Silverados and now my Limited I have used CNA extended warranty only available thru a dealer. On my Silverado's I had claims at 110K miles and never had a problem. This was as recently as 6 months ago.
When I bought my Limited the dealer sold me a CNA lifetime bumper to bumper for 3K. I bit on it, I put on approx 50K miles a year. So far I have been lucky and always got my money back.

I don’t believe this has anything to with grammar or diction, I feel it is more of a comprehension issue at play here. While English certainly may be your first (and likely only) language, you show no evidence of excelling at it. Ad hominem attacks are the last bastion of the intellectually destitute.
