Okay, I did the muffler delete as well. Not really 100% positive of what people mean by this "droning" sound with the radio frequency to compensate something something something...
So here is what I have found with mine with the muffler delete: At certain speeds & rpms there would be an annoying low tone which seems somewhat ear piercing to me. After getting under the truck and looking with it idling it seemed as if some of the low engine tone was coming off the pipe or off of the side of the pipe. Kind of like being pulled up beside someone with the bass turned up on their car stereo. Sooooo, what I found to help tremendously was- I wrapped the exhaust with header wrap from where the header bolts on to the pipe(up by the transfer case) all the way back to the section where it splits off to the "Y" portion of the pipe.
Took it for a drive and I'm very happy with the outcome. That annoying low tone, droning sound is all but gone!
What it is I used is a fiberglass header pipe wrap.
Good luck

Did you also turn off Eco mode, I get that irritating drone when MDS turns on and switches to 4 cylinders at light - coasting throttle application. I usually switch it off when I start my truck, barely saves gas to notice anyways.

It may be the ANC. Try disconnecting that and see if the droning clears up.

I'm still learning all the abbreviations in the Tazer DT, so the only way I know how to turn it off other than to put it in "tow/trailer" mode.
But today I drove it 60 miles on the highway and it was much much better!!

No worries, took me a while as well. MDS is (Multi-Displacement System), under low load the truck will switch from 8 to 4 cylinders, which will make a noticeable droning noise in the truck if you have an aftermarket exhaust.

To turn off MDS, simply use your (-+) shift limit buttons on the right of your steering wheel. They limit what gear you truck will shift up to, comes in handy when you want it to drive at a lower gear, such as up a hill. Press the - switch to turn it on, and press the + button and select 8th gear. This will give you full access to all 8 speeds like normal, but will turn off MDS.

Also, as an option, you can turn on the Eco light on your dash to see when the truck is in MDS mode. It's off by default. You need to go to the Unconnect screen to settings to turn on the Eco light.

Video on how to disable MDS ....

Here is a good video on turning the Eco light on ...

ANC?? What is it & where do you turn it off at?

If you crack a window in the truck, the Active Noise Cancellation is no longer active. Members on here have been unplugging the microphones to the ANC system in order to disable it.

Well heck, I've played with the +/- shift buttons, I just never noticed the ECO stayed off when I did. Great tip thanks

Yeah I dont think I want to unplug the mics

ANC is Active Noise Cancelling. I had the low tone when I swapped out a speaker, but sounds like a very similar problem. My resolution was to swap polarity on one of the speakers and it solved my particular issue. There are several threads that discuss the issues with ANC and how to disable it (not just speaker swaps). As riccnick said, you can lower the window and it disables the ANC. In one of the threads, I found where someone has created an adapter to plug into the amp/anc unit under the seat which will bypass all the mics. Another way to test it out if it is the ANC creating the issue.

Are there any tuners available to disable the MDS completely?

Hopefully, I don't like the idea of only half the cylinder working when it comes to a durability situation, plus it makes a bad drone at honestly all speeds.

I always turn my MDS off when I start driving, but for some reason I forgot one day and didn't realize it. I was doing some driving in the suburbs and I thought wow, my exhaust is hurting my head today and really not enjoyable to drive right now. Luckily I saw the Eco light and turned off the MDS. I immediately felt better.

It's interesting that the drone wasn't enough at city speeds for me to recognizie it right away as "drone", but just enough to bother me for a while before I figured it out.

Currently either the Pulsar or Tazer DT are the two available optoins but neither disable the feature, they just 'remember' the 'off' setting in a way (i believe pulsar does a throttle pulse to ensure 'eco' disengages), Tazer just presses-the-button-for-you in a way.

EDIT - I just realized I mis-remembered MDS/ECO for Auto-Stop - the Tazer will only remember the Auto-Stop setting for you but iirc, the developer hasn't setup a way for the +\- gear buttons to be 'tapped' at startup

As for MDS durability - FCA brands have been doing it for decades as well as others; I haven't read a definitive paper on motors being harmed by MDS, but Id be curious to know.

That's good info, I'll take a look at that.

MDS is just a bad way to save a few mpg. Though the cam roller pins is more of an issue for durability with the Hemi, I hope they fixed that for our generation of trucks. I just don't like have the cylinders pumping and the other half doing nothing, the wear difference between the pistons and liners will be different. Not sure in the scheme of things that matters, but for the less than 1 mpg I save if I ran the MDS long enough, I rather not deal with it, especially with the drone I get with my exhaust when MDS is running.

^^^the only thing that stops is the actual firing of the plugs when in mds mode. you still have normal combustive movement. there's a vid out somewhere on YouTube about how it operates. I hate it... wish someone could find a plug n play that would somehow send a signal to disable it like when we hit the -/+ gear keys.

That is good info. I will look into those and see what I think. Do you know if I can readjust the TPMS sensor tire pressure numbers with any of those tuners? I need to set my tire pressure to under 30lbs because their 55 and 45 are ridiculous on a Rebel with 10 ply tires.
