I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie which has been fine for almost 2 years now. Today when I started it up I got the message, "Service your Electronic Stability Control system". I thought it was a little weird but began to drive and truck would not come out of first gear. I made sure manual shift was not engaged and shut my truck off and a couple times with no change to message or being stuck on 1st gear. I then took the battery off and back on and it cleared the message, and warning indicator, and allowed me to drive normally. Any ideas as to what could be going on here??

I had the same issue about 3 weeks ago.
In addition to not coming out of first gear the display stated:
1. Service Electronic Stability Control
2. Service Trailer Brake System
3. Park Sense Rear Braking Assist Off
4. Service light was on (traction control)

I went out an hour or so later and the situation resolved itself.

In addition this past Sunday the speedometer, tachometer and Park, Reverse, Neutral and Drive switch were going up and down with the vehicle off. The vehicle would not start and the "situation" continued until I pulled the negative battery cable. I'm not sure of the battery voltage but I checked after using a battery tender a bit and it was at 12.2. Eventually the battery was charged enough to start the car and I took it out for about a 20 mile ride and all functions returned a little at a time. I only had hi and lo for heat initially and no back up camera. This happened Sunday and Tuesday morning it was at the dealership for an appointment with the 1st gear issue.

I do not have the vehicle back yet but I believe the battery was replaced and some things updated. It still at the dealer for additional updates.

My advice is to check your battery. This was discussed earlier today about batteries going out at the 2 year mark. I was told by a mechanic to replace the battery at 3 years (for new cars generally) and a lot of the problems he sees is do to the battery. My neighbor is a BMW mechanic and he said you can have problems when voltage goes to about 12 or a little less.

I also believe this issue of being stuck in first gear is on car complaints

Another issue to be careful of.

I have the same issue all the sudden. It has now happened 2 times in a week dealership says they can't replicate the problem.

UPDATE:
Battery replaced and TSB 21-009-20 update/flash
Time will tell.
Mine did the exact same thing today took it to the Dealer found out that my battery had a dead cell change the battery solve the problem.

Where did you get the update?
The "UPDATE" was to my original post explaining what was done at the dealership under warranty. The "new" battery had to be jumped at less than the 2 year mark. I continued to use it and than on May 25th the Ram would not start when I needed it the most. Replaced the battery again and have not had an issue.

I have come to the conclusion that the parasitic draw drains the battery. The Ram needs to be "run/used" or a battery maintainer is needed.

I experienced the above issue today. I just purchased a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn with 75K miles a few days ago. For last several days all was working fine. This morning when I started the car I noticed one short flash of the ETC signal (lightning bolt) and then the following messages:
1. Service Electronic Stability Control
2. Service Trailer Brake System

Additionally, when I put it in Drive it would not shift from 1st to 2nd gear. I noticed also that the 2WD light on the dial was not engaged. I checked this thread and took the path of looking at the battery. I measured it with a volt meter and it was low, around 11v. I charged the battery and noticed it was a Mopar branded one. When i checked the vehicles Carfax there was a note in 2020 that the battery was replaced at 35K miles.

Once the battery was charged I reconnected everything and tested the truck. Everything was working find and no error messages were displayed. At this point, and because the battery was no 3yrs old, I purchased a new battery as piece of mind. So far, everything is working as normal. I’ve got a long trip to do in a few days so I’m hoping I don’t run into any problems. I’ll make sure to add an update here in a few weeks. I‘m also going to make sure my AAA membership is current…LOL!
