Doing the first oil change on my 21 1500 and couldn't get the oil filter (Mobil-1 113A) to thread on. Tried for like 10 mins and was like WTH. Then looked at the OEM filter it has a 22mm opening and the 113A I had was a 20mm opening. Go back to store, pick up a 113A off the shelf and it has a 22mm. So I have 2 113A filters, same label, same box, same stamping on the bottom, yet one has a 20mm opening and the other is 22mm. Had no problem putting the 22mm 113A on. Just something to check before I you start I guess. I've always done my own oil changes and it 25+ years have never had this issue.

The 20mm filter is "dirty" from messing with it for 10 mins or so trying to get it on.

First time I've heard of that one! Did you buy them both at the same location?

That's something I might expect to see more from an online order like Amazon. Glad you were thoughtful enough to inspect it, rather than do something crazy like wedge it on 😆 - That could get ugly!

Wow, never seen that one before.

Contact Mobil1 and they will probably send you a replacement, or at least a coupon for one.

I use the SRT filters on mine. They are larger, but fit, and have more filter media

I’d like to be using a larger filter, what’s the part number?

Dealer had a Trx filter on mine when I bought it. Found out after a oil change and went to get the Mopar filter and part numbers didn’t match. I can’t remember how much bigger but it was bigger.

Huh that’s interesting, I wonder why they had a Trx filter on your motor

Dude I have no idea. It was 6 months old used with really low miles. They changed the oil and for some reason they put wrong filter on. I remember it was tighter getting it off. But gasket area I think was same. But to be honest I didn’t compare them to well. Since I did the large zip lock bag to pull it off and it was covered in oil.

Maybe it was a virgin filter?

:)
